Filmstar, I'm a convert nowtintslut Bought a used filmstar from tintskeet about a year ago. Well It kinda just sat around collecting dust, never really had nuthin to try it out on. Today was the chance. Have an office building that requires around 400 19 5/8 x 48 pieces of frosted film. Last week , it took 15 minutes to tint 4 of these windows and cut a 1 inch border reveal. Using the Filmstar, this time was reduced to 9 minutes. No heapin bags of release liners and excess film scrap. all times included cleaning drywall dust off the frames, blading windows and squeegee. While the cost may seem high, If you do a lot of windows of the same sizes, this thing is definately a time saver. Thanks tintskeet!!! tintdude Yup, at the big commercial frosted film job we are on every saturday, we use a film cutter, it would suck not to have it on that job. Mdog how does this thing work? do you cut the film slightly oversized and trim it or just slap it on and if you get a light gap screw it? fill me in. tintslut cut it slightly oversize and trim, peels the liner and cuts it off. THe cutter assembly could be a little more robust,, the unit I have is very old, dont think they make it anymore.. filmstar jr may have taken its place now Mdog heyyy thats ot`s line tintslut dont wake sleeping giants Sprinter I think they still sell parts for yours? skeeter Cool - I'm glad you're getting some use out of it! tintslut Sell parts for it?? Hell, I sent it to jeff and he fixed the cords and did some updates free of charge, just paid the shipping. Dont find too many companies thatll do that out there. Olfablade I've had two of the older 60" machines for years, they are the best employees I ever bought! Tint Slug Jeff is a good ol' boy .....and has came up with some cool tools ....I never really liked the filmstar but I guess if you have the right job it could save alot of hasle tintdude the film star looks complicated, we use the film handler, it doesn't pull the liner or anything, but on big commercial, it's invaluable. Mdog hmmmm guess i will have to make one tintdude i wouldn't doubt it e.f.mdog is the "mcgyver" of tinting! |
