Feedback on Different Film

Tint Guru

A am looking at distributing an alternitive film.

Currently I am selling Solar Gard. Very Happy

I have carried Madico, the distrubtors undercut you left and right. I droped them this year

Llumar Same thing 10 years ago maybe will I try them again. EXPENSIVE

Sungard Same thing Hell they sold right to my biggest customer and cut me out. May all their defrosters have bubbled film

Johnson doesn't seem to be to interested and I hear thier service sux, never tried it.

Any good word on other films, good service, warranty, price and training?

Try llumar again. i've tried alot of films and just about everything you said was correct. i don't use the died films, everyone's dyed stuff sucks. madicos lasted pretty well, and sg lasted a couple years, suntek lasted 3 months before going clear, and 3m went purple in about 6 months, and sungard lasted about a year. so i'm not into the dyed films AT ALL. i don't even consider them when looking at manufacturer's film lines. i had been using true grey and it held it's color very well. i'm now using llumastar and it is awesome.
i don't know what everybody's deal with llumar is with it being expensive. i don't think $300 for a 40" roll is high. may just be me.

oldtinter

TTs, give a comparison of True Grey and Llumistar. The True grey I put on my van looks like day one after about 3 years, not too shabby.

Tint Guru

Cringes WOW that is expensive, But I do know it is good film. I primarily sell metalized 80% they do have great marketing and support and that is rolled into the cost.

Tint Guru

I talked to a guy named EDDIE today he is sending me samples of 5 and 20% 40 inch to test it out for heat shrinking.

Thanks for the lead

shop

basically, they are the same. they look similar, heat shrink the same, the cost is roughly the same, not many differences other than llumastar comes off the roll backwards. i have true grey on just about all my families rides, and like you said the stuff that's three years old looks like day one. it's a really good film. basically the only difference is i get to tell my customers that llumastar covers against color change. and that's basically why i switched.

oldtinter

Thought so, thanks TTS. I see no reason to switch.

tintchick

true grey looks great on my Tahoe after 2 years

oldtinter

Yeah, the stuff doesn't want to fade at all.

tintslut

hmmmm,, True Grey shrinks as well as llumastar???

NOT a F***ing chance in hell. It might hold its color,
but some of the batches of TG, had fuzzy nitetime distortion,
and none of it ever shrank good at all.

Film Maverick

Sounds like you got the "Original" TG slut. They pulled it off the shelves and the "New" stuff shrinks fine.

Also -

Word from my rep is they're going lifetime against fading on the True Grey

tintslut

after telling them of the problems,, they never offered to take it back.
Just said it would be corrected,,,,, that was the last straw..
I see LLUMAR go it right the first time with llumastar.
True gray was so problematic for me, EVEN the GLOBAL HP was
less distorted and shrank better.

Film Maverick

shop

i did forget to mention that, the llumastar is much clearer than the TG. but you have to remember, they look the same to the customer. we see this shit everyday and can spot a flaw a mile away. i did have problems with it shrinking the first time i used it. but the next rolls i bought were fine, so you had the same problems i did. but after the little fiasco, i'm llumastar all the way. fuck SG.
the only problem i have with llumastar is coming off the f***ing roll backwards. i know you guys are sick of hearing me say this, but i'm gonna bitch about it till they change it.

soundsalive

Who makes true grey? Madico??? Why are all you folks using 40" Rolls?? I generally use 20" and 24" and can do most every car with these. OHHH never mind you arent seeming your back windows huh? I usually do a 2 pc cut on the defroster line. What are you getting for a 1pc back window tint job? I get 175.99 for a "seamless" 2 pc Any one heard of alpina fils out of canada? I use this for my cheap film. 24"x200ft roll any shade costs me 175.00 Great cheap film. shrinks great and 200 ft roll lasts forever.
P.S. Tint dude is there a way to have an email come to me when someone replies to this post?

oldtinter

Solar Gard makes True Grey...Most in here only do one piece rears, so you need to stock 40" or 36" rolls.

oldtinter

...and you don't need e-mails, you'll get replies quick, they might not be nice, but quick..

Protint

Hey OT did SG get the true grey thing down. I really want to try it but my rep says that they are still having problems. I think he is kinda left out of the loop.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
