I'm thankful for the guy who is a mod on the Phaeton forum for thoroughly warning us about the potential to easily damage this car during tinting. I spent 30 minutes reading up on it before i did the install. Here's some of my prep on this car,
Putting the car's system battery on a trickle charger
You must close both back doors and pull fuse #89 in order to keep both rear headrests down. They raise from weight sensing switches in the seats.
It was also suggested that you pad the seats BEFORE kneeling on them to prevent tearing the heating pads in the seats.
BOTH front and rear quarters have "No mans land" borders that un less you pull the glass, you can't get to!
You also cannot let the key be on for more than 20 minutes culmitively at a time. You MUST pull key and reset to avoid major systems from shutting down.
A high maintenance car for sure!
One of my top 5 harder vehicles to do properly! I won't strap my apron on for less than five bills on these.
The whole time reading this thread I am thinking to myself, please, "Did he charge enough?" "Did he charge enough?" "Oh man, he better have charged enough $ for that!"
I'm thinking of getting one for my daily driver but Jeeze I don't think so now that I know I don't want to tint the windows. Man those high end cars scare me when they are in the shop or even sitting outside!!! Thanks for the advice.
I was thinking you of all people would be charging 8 large on this one with all the extra's you have to do to it.
He's a good customer, I've done his Range Rover, his 996, his son's CLS500, so I gave him a break.
So you did pull the glass is what your saying?
Damn son.. I got this one the other day.. jerry Stackhouse's he's got like 4 Bentleys.. WTF? I got the film behind the seal on the quarter windows, and well that took me just as long as the doors.. and F the back window. lol. its hot though.
