i have not done a berreta's back window in at least 5 years.a customer called me and they want me to tint the car. he also will have the glass out of the car.can the back window be heat shrink in one piece.what is the difficult level in one piece?

I watch a guy heat form this window for one piece install. said he had to practice at least forty times to finally figure out the trick, 'cept he still struggles to install 'cause the bottom flaps off the glass.

I usually triple price these so they go down the road and aggravate the competitor.

i've been tinting for 5 yrs....i can do just about every car in one piece, the 4 door saturns, the new stratus 2 door, the beetle, the new eclipse, the old school intrepids, even the old 4 door cutlass....the only one that i haven't been able to do is the beretta, ive tried it a couple times, and what i usually do, is shrink a 24" piece at the top, and put a small piece at the bottom and do a little OVERLAP seam just below the bottom defrost line far enough to appear to be anothe defroster, the reason for this overlap is due to the concave curve at the bottom of that back glass. and honestly, have the customer leave the glass in the car, and in my opinion, the only one that can appreciate a one piece install on that car is another tinter so for me it's not worth it to even try anymore. good luck.

I think if the guy takes the b/g out, it would be alot like doing the older cameros :thumb that would make things soooo much easier biggrin.gif

not really, it still involves a reverse curve of almost 90 degrees...it's waaay worse than a camaro i think. but hey, let us know how it goes.

I call it the German helmet curve. I put the small piece on the bottom too. Not a nice even line all the way across...wants to be thicker in the middle cause of the curve. So I use the light inside and draw it on the film on the outside of the glass with a marker and use the old Invisiseam (Ahhhhhh brings back memories...) to cut that excess out.

i've done two of these in one piece. it's easy once you figure it out, but there's not many out there to practice on. i dry heat shrink the best i can, and it takes a while. leave the back bottoms alone and shrink everything else. when you get done and are ready to put it on the glass, go ahead and put it on and squeegee the entire glass EXCEPT the two flaps at the bottom corners. DON'T SQUEEGEE THEM. make sure it's a hot sunny day outside and back the car in the sun. (heat gun heats the glass too quick, don't even bother trying, i've already tried evrything else) let it sit for a few minutes and then squeegee down one corner from the middle to the edge. don't lift the squeegee, just hold it for a few minutes at the edge of the glass. it may stick, it may not. if it doesn't, pull the edge and rewet and try again. move to the next side and repeat the process. these cars suck and are a prime example of a car that is a total waste of my time. i no longer do these cars, and if you successfully get this on in one piece, you will probably stop doing them too. after you've done one in one piece, there's nothing left to prove, so move on to another challenge.

i just did one last week and it went down in one, i do like tts but i use a heat gun on the corners getting them very hot 1 at a time use the conqurer to knock it down then cram a towl in the corner to hold it to the glass. then i go to the other side doing the same, by the time i get it hot and squeegee it down to cram the towel in from the other corner it works almost always the 1st time sometimes i have to add a little more heat and hit a small roll off the dots but not a big deal.

I still remember the first one I did when they first came out "88" or so. I did the back three, first try, with out screwing it up, 4 peieces, I locked down accross the bottom defroster, rolled up a paper towel, pulled tight and jammed straight back, then I used a 5 way to get the water out. After it popped loose. I rewet it and did it again, then had some one nuke it. Sent it back to the dealer.

The next time was a nightmare, this chick / dyke was having problems, so I said I woud bail her out at another shop. The nightmare got worse, I was creasing doors, there was no light, she was using metalized film It wouldn't lay, I had to go below the defroster.

Ahhthe old days, no shrinkin tuff doors , you had to squeegee them just right or El creaso.

I do them in two, i go the 4 bottom line so I can lock it down there then push the rest straight back.

I heard if you cut the bottom corners to the inside of the dots it will lay down better.
