Little Tricks and Tips in Detailing
bandit
I have a few tips in detailing to share ,maybe gt this forum unstuck!! After washing vehicle spray down with quick detailer and wipe down with big micro towel windows ,chrome ect, this saves time when doing wash and vacum jobs. Also cant get door jambs to look pretty try wiping some tire shine in them or spray a little clear out of a spray can lightly in there!

I keep a bottle of Zep tire shine available to wipe down auto interior if I get either vinyl or leather wet while tinting. That eliminates any water marks and ticked off customers.
They think the tint job makes there interior look better and walk away even happier!

Zep has some pretty mean products in there commercial line ,very potent but a little priceydepending on your price 's that you charge, good tip

Thanks. I agree they are expensive, but they go a long way.

For me the cleaning prep is the key Interior / Exterior Wash and Vaccum
Most detailing customers want what?
A clean car so if the wash and vac is not right the job will never be right, you spent a lot more time detailing it and the customer will say you didn't wash it or you didn't even vacum it throughly.
So what I do is take the wash and vacumm a step further.
After washing it I clay and rub my hand over the whole vehicle to ensure that every bit of road tar, tree sap, bugs and brake dust is off of the vehicle. I know most of you know this but you never want to see a customer run thier hand over the vehicle and say you waxed over this crap.
By the same token after vacumming blow out all the hard to reach areas between the seats deck board and instument panel. You never want the customer to think you did a quicky vacumm on it.
You know once they find one thing the whole job is second guessed and the the proverbrial finger comes out.

I hope you charge more for the clay bar!

Nope! Unless they have paint overspray. It only take 5 minutes to go over it real quick with a Bar vs. trying to use chemicals and trying to high speed or rub that stuff off. On an exterior detail the out side surface should be CLEAN other wise what is the point?
Charge more up front they will thank you later

You should charge for the claying. The clay is too expensive to be handing the service out for free. Just explain that the extra step will make the wax job look a lot better. They usually understand and opt for it. They don't need to know it only takes 5 minutes.

that is one of the worst things you can do to an iterior. sure it looks great at the time . but what is going to happen in a few weeks. is all the indents in the vinyl or plastic. are going to have white lines. im a little drunk right now. so maybe not explaining it right. but never ever use a tire shine . on the interior. use something made for the interior.

Tire shines contain nothing that is good for vinyl. I totally agree with pierce. There are a number of silicones and solvents in tire shine that can degrade vinyl and cause it to "gas off" excessibly.

Just caught that tire shine on seats,That will leave a fog on the windows like you see in New England, most people dont know that the film on windows are gases released from the vinyl and leather ect
