any of you that cut two doors at once have you ever shrunk both doors at the same time? I cut both doors then when they need shrink I take one over to the drivers door and then shrink them individually. I was thinking it would be a real time saver to shrink them both at the same time. Anyone tried this?

i do it the way you do it, never tried shrinking both patterns at once though. i just figured the tint would get in a bind and crease up. :dunno

I'm sure it would crease up but on those cars that you could do without shrinking at all but it really helps alot to shrink em. I would like to try it sometime.

it is possible to shrink both at the same time, on like a camaro, or cavalier, but nothing much more curvy than that......i woldn't do like a catera or nothing.....it does work, i only do it when i'm in a biiig ass hurry...when i do it seems as if the very very bottom like 1/8" seems to bind up a little, but no biggie, heat gun after stickin' it seems to do the trick. try it out sometime...just make sure that after you double cut, remove patterns, and put them back on the glass about a 1/4" above bottom rubber so you have room instead of burning the bottom. have fun and good luck :beer

I do like madg one on each window, you ever notice on some windows that one side needs a ton more shrinking than the other side, and not just fords. plus whats it saving you one minute total time if that!

CloudWalker Jun 1 2003, 12:05 PM
hey minutes turn into hours.. it all adds up.

GusTheTinter Jun 1 2003, 01:07 PM
and hours into days :lol

On cars and trucks that I use double cut on I shrink them both at the same time. Just be sure that the top layer of tint has the liner side up.

There is not usually a big enough difference between windows that over/undershinking doesn't seem to be a problem.

I'm not that big a fan of double cutting because I cut most patterns oversize to cover more glass. It's a pain in the ass to try to slide two pieces of tint at the same time.

i shrink'em both at the same time. and i shrink with the liner facing in on the top peice. that way i dont have to take both pieces off the window, when i goto move one to the other side of car. never had a problem so far.

CloudWalker Jun 1 2003, 09:21 PM
very interesting. Squeeg you said be sure the liner is facing you when shrinking both at once. MT you said you shrink with the liner facing in. What does it matter?

zrokewl24 Jun 2 2003, 04:22 AM
if you shrink with the liner facing in, there's a HIGH possibility of scratching the film side ..not good, i use a really smooth hard card and don't worry, some of you that haven't tried it might wanna use a paper towel aroung the hard card. the liner n the outside is just so you don't scratch the film.

Hell I would have one big melted mess of tint . I am not that tallented

SQUEEGEE Jun 2 2003, 08:13 AM
Liner side out to reduce incidents of scratching like ZROK said and because the liner side out will allow you to apply more heat which is necessary to shrink two pieces of film at the same time.

holy sh*t is realy does work. I tried it on my 2000 Cobra & I think with a little more practice well we will see I had 2 creases in the center. :beer

magictinter Jun 2 2003, 06:18 PM
cloud, like some of the others said, use a paper towel and you wont scratch the film if the liner is facing inward on the window. just make sure its thick enuff to protect you or you will scratch it. :thumb

I double shrank Llumar ATR and found that it worked well on windows that aren't super-curved. But, when I tried it on 3M it wanted to crease. Depends on the film I guess.
