Easiest way to remove Ford Rearview mirror
|
I hope this makes sense... Take a long, thin, but strong tool such as a screwdriver, pick, or best of all, hook tool. Insert it into the hole at the bottom of the mirror base at the arrow (it will be between the bracket and the mirror base): While pulling the mirror upward to slide it off of the bracket, gently pry on the tool to pull the mirror base tab away from the mirror bracket. If you rock the tool back and forth (away from the glass and toward it) gently while pulling up on the mirror itself, the mirror will slide upward off the bracket with no stress, fear, or sudden movement. When re-installing, it helps a lot to spray a little silicone spray on the mirror base to help it slide onto the bracket and seat all the way when done. |

If your law is like ours...(6") then you don't need to remove it. Just precut on the outside and the visor is right at the top of the mirror mount. At worst you have to slightly notch the film for the top of the mount. There's plenty of room to slide the film behind the mirror if you need to.

The hook tool method from the bottom works great on the s-10, sonoma pickups too. I took photos when I did my truck but never got around to posting them.
