for over 11 years now, our shop has been giving out warranty cards, not warranty card from what film you use, your own warranty card, first its a simple card, 4.5" x 8" with information front and back, stating what warranty covers and what it doesnt cover, window tinting laws specified for the fronts and backs. and back of the card it says cleaning instructions and any other services you provide, and way at the bottom you company name , phone, address. in front of the car there is a section where we fill out what film we used , date, and initials of installer, pics are below, i took them with my camera phone, @#$% camera phone. hope its a good tip. i'll list what is on mine.

Front:
Business name on top part

warranty information immediately followed by what film you used, date and initials of installer

Window Tinting law

Back:
Cleaning instructions

Other services we offer

and company info on bottom.

its white card with dark blue bold ink.

hope i earn my lil metal for this. orngbiggrin.gif

What about film companies that give nationwide warranties.

Would this allow customers to get warranty work done at other places?

Or would they tell the customer to go away?

Tint,
You've gotta invest in a digital camera. The camera phones are junk! Just pick up a 3.2 Megapixel small point and shoot camera for about $200. Canon's are good and so are Nikon's. I know you make enough money so do us a favor and post clear pictures in the future. Great tip!

whatever might be your problem with this mr darky

but our business of 26 years, with the same warranty card, has never failed, and always been around, and half warranty work covered, simply you put in the lot number and film you used simple as that.

That's great if the customer comes back to you. Life is fine and dandy.

However, soon, if the customers move and need warranty work done somewhere else their warranty may not be honored.

Until recently, my customers didn't get a warranty except just my own. Now I like the fact that if I go under (which, luckily, business is picking up so I have no plans of hanging up the squeege) or move (which is a possibility) they have other options of getting their stuff fixed.

i can prove to you with a list of customers in the past few years where they need warranty work, they were and got covered at the time we were using LLUMAR and had no problems, and another few customers went to live in an area where there were no tint shops and coundt get theyre film fixed, but no, what you are implying (sp?) is not entirely true.

I like the idea, I've been toying with altering my invoice the same way, with all warranty info, cleaning instructions, roll #, tint laws, etc. I plan on doing it on the invoice though because it is a little cheaper for me to get it printed. I'll also keep giving them the manufacturer warranty too so if they move or something like that they will still be covered.

Darkdan is right on this one. If I'm a consumer would I want a nice professional and valid nationwide warranty, that all the manufacturers honor, as do most of the shops on this forum. Or do I want a flimsy piece of paper that is honored ONLY at Joe's tint shop.I don't see any point in this thinking.WHY DON'T YOU JUST USE THE WARRANTY PROVIDED BY THE MANU..IT WILL BE HONORED BY OTHER SHOPS AND WILL BE HONORED BY THE MANU.I could care less about Joe's tint shop warranty..end of discussion...

It's the manufacturers warranty on their film, not mine. They're the ones who want to do that so they have to honor it.They are alot bigger than us so let them pay the tab for their product failure.I have maybe one warranty every two mo's which is no big deal.Lulu pays me well to replace a fogged back window now and then. It's usually the back window only and it's usually been on 5yrs or more. The flatglass warranties are another thing.

I wholeheartedly disagree. The Manu's by and large only pay for the film and not labor. I'll be damned if i do a strip and retint only to be reimbursed for the amout of film used. Not to mention, a LIFETIME warranty on a product that lasts 5 years tops.

Screw that.

I give the customer a sheet that I make up myself plus I give them the manufacture's card. I don't know why you wouldn't provide them with the film company's card??? I think it's a great selling point that they are covered if they move.

its not a big deal, with these warranty cards, if you ever do have a comeback, just keep the paperwork you gave the customer or make a copy, send to manufacturer and they will also credit you back, like i said no big deal. i guess we are on an open forum and express what we feel, but its just simply a suggestion if anyone would want to do it in they're business in the near future or what not. its worked out for the company im in since i think its '86 or earlier im not sure, i was too young Uhhcopy.gif . but helll guys if you dont like the whole idea, ignore it, dont give unnecessary comments of which, if it would work or not. take it as you will, just a suggestion. take it or dump it. orngbiggrin.gif

try holding it straight up in front of the camera..and not at an angle..and in front of a darker background...so the camera will focus on the sheet..and not anything else.and not reflect off the glass counter.. thumb.gif

I don't know about you guys buy my manu...lulu..pays me pretty well to do warranty work.Enough that I don't mind doing it..whereas some other companies expect you to be the warranty honorer instead of them.I want to use a film that the manuf pays me well to redo not just one in word only..mmm..keep track of your jobs and the consumer always wants a big name product.I do when I buy something.

I like the warranty, why give the customers information to the manufacturer who may market them and send them to their latest favorite dealer. It wouldn't be the first time.

your own warrany. looks great. can even charg the customers a good flat rate, if need to be. u are holding yourself responsable, your warranty is worth, 15%-20% of the job. or a strate up, 50$ covering the cost of bidding the job. 10 extended warrenties, worth 500$. covering 1 glass breakage job. if GOD ment it to be. tuttle
