Building rolling set-up window (aka Tint Tower or Power Tower)
I'm not sure how many people even use these here, but I do and it makes my life easier. I like to call this one the "Power Tower." Was a top secret project until the guys from the Bray Group walked in to the shop last year before SEMA and saw it. They liked it so I figured they would have it in production by the end of this year This was the first one I constructed like this. We've always used those furniture dollys and added glass on to it, but they were very top heavy and fell over easily. The PT has a very low center of gravity and is weighted perfectly. This model has a very skinny window (30"), but the next model will utilize a +40" wide window. ![]() ![]() The Power Tower consists of: - Harbor freight creeper with the pad removed - Sliding glass door (preferably 40"-45") - 2 6' framing L brackets from "Homey D" split at the bottom to mount it to the creeper - 2 bolts to mount the 6' L brackets to the window - and 2 bolts to mount the glass door to the creeper - 1 small pieces of formica board for in front of the glass to set things on (lke gasket wizard, blades, spary bottles, etc.. - 1 small piece of formica board for behind the glass for various things (corneleuos tank) - Small L bracket to mount the glass to the creeper at the bottom and this same l bracket holds the little piece of formica in front of the glass. Construction notes: - If built the same way using the Harbor Freight creeper you can use the existing caster bolts to bolt most of it together. - Hardly any holes need to be drilled at all, just the 4 on the glass door if I remember correctly. The rest of the holes are already on the creeper. - Also, when mounting the glass be sure to have it set along the base so that the casters can spin 360deg with out hitting it. - Leave a small spce between the formica in front of the glass to let the water run down through. - You will need to tighten it up once per year to keep it nice and sturdy. And that’s about it.. On my Power Tower I have a few bungee chords strapped across the back. 1 is to keep the pressure tank in it's place, 1 is used to hang my chamois (green- to wipe down the windows when the car comes in, orange- for wiping door panels after paper slingin) and my yellow "Mdog soap method" cloth. The other bungee is used as a paper towel dispenser (don't use it much, that roll has been on there for a year now) Some other extras are the used film tubes cut to hang things on and hold a heat gun if needed. Also, the power tower has its own squeegee as well for the daily fast cleaning. I also use a box that fits perfectly next to the tank for trash protective layers. I have a bad habbit of collecting window stickers as well. That's what ya see on the back side Here are a few more pics from different angles http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a59/SirDu...ng/DSC03629.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a59/SirDu...ng/DSC03626.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a59/SirDu...ng/DSC03625.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a59/SirDu...ng/DSC03621.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a59/SirDu...ng/DSC03620.jpg Enjoy! Like I said, this may not be for everyone! For you mobile guys, this thing is sturdy enough to throw in and out of the bed of a truck. This has been edited by CJ Shades: Feb 2 2007, 10:34 AM |

ahha! I thought those brackets you used looked a bit different. The ones I used were a little smaller and cost $10 each. The ones you used are beefier though.

The glass I used was HEAVY and wider so I thought I would use the bigger ones. Work out good. This one is STURDY. Now add the wood to the bottom and I think I'm done.
