"No Fault" warranty, Seems to be the hook that gets 'em!! Options

I have upped my prices so that I am AT LEAST 1/2 again more expensive than my highest price competitor. BUT I offer a no fault warranty. If they screw it up for no matter what reason, I'll fix it! I make sure that the customer is aware that the no fault part comes from me, not the mfgr. I do charge a nominal fee for removal and re-application, generally around 15 to 20 for a rollup, around 50 for the average BG. Once I mention that No Fault thing, they are usually hooked. It takes away the "sticker shock" when I ask them if the competition offers that Oh and BTW, I tell them that warranty work is an all day affair, so most people are pretty careful, 'cuz they don't want to be without a car for a whole day. and therefore I do very few warrany redo's It's also nice that KWjr is taking over the car dept

And I actually thought about how many R&R's I've done over a years time for repairs. MAYBE 4!! So I f I have to do 6 windows a year for free to get my prices, thats money well spent!! This COULD come back and knaw on my azz, but I doubt it. It's worth a try. I'm tired of people walking over price. Just one more option for the custy. And I'm QUITE sure that I can pay for the machine just at the flea mkt selling pre cut kits

I would guess the warranty is on the film itself with minimal labor cost.
Sure beats paying regular price for a strip and retint !

Actually, when I 1st posted this i was still tryin' to figger the whole thing out. I have since scrapped the idea of the "Nominal" fee. It's truly free. I was (and still might) trying to cover just a tad bit of the labor.

Actually, I don't charge for the warrany (technically) As I said, my prices are WAY higher than my competitors, and after I explain my years of experience, the fact that I rely on quality rather than quantity, the quality of the film I use(Yada, Yada) I then lay out just what you explained. Plus the fact that there is not one other shop within 100 mi of me that does that(to my knowledge) And the fact that you've only done a few for free over the years reiterates my point. I got to thinking about how many windows have I redone due to damage? I pretty much came up with the same figure you did. Also, the warranty doe not cover the back glass of a passenger vehicle, or any vehicle with a rear defroster.

I was wandering if either you guys could tell me exactly what you do for this " No Fault " warranty. I want to introduce this in my shop cause I really think this is a great idea and I know that it will work in my area as I have never seen this before. I mean do you still have clauses in there or a length of time cause after I read it I thought mayb a 5yr " No Fault " warranty but I would be giving it as an option rather than including it in the price . Also would you give it to a guy that throws his work tools in the back of his wagon or pushbikes cause everytimke he scratched it he would come back all the time. Oh I just thought of another one, what if window was smashed and insurance would not cover the tint would this be tinted under the " No Fault " warranty? I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me out.

The "No-Fault warranty (With me, anyway) covers the side windows only, and covers any incedental damage (IE: kids peeling it, seat belt damage, nicks etc.) The motivation for the custy to be careful is the fact that warranty work is an all day affair. Drop the car at 9:00, and car will be ready by end of day. This means they will be without the vehicle all day. They will usually be careful. It also specifically excludes the B/G, or any glass that has external electronic wiring on the interior surface of the glass (Defrosters, Radio antennae etc)

The warranty covers "family" type passenger/SUV/Truck/Van vehicles only. NOT extended for Commercial vehicles, or "Obvious" Work vehicles. (The carpenter who carrys his tools in the car/truck etc.).

A time limit like 5 yr would be good, But currently there is not a time limit at my shop. I'll judge that next year.

Ins or no, the window is covered. If the custy has ins that covers it, great, but it's covered by me regardless.

I do not charge for the No-Fault, but my prices ARE higher than my competition. This warranty helps justify my prices to the custy (Not to mention the OUTSTANDING quality of workmanship and customer service!!!! )

Hope this answers your question. SO FAR, this is working great. I get VERY FEW arguments over price, and have YET to do the first warranty claim. It's coming, I'm sure, but like I said if I have to re-do 4 or 6 windows a year in order to get the prices I charge it's WELL worth it

There are always "worst case" scenarios. Enough so that it would seem to preclude doing anything good for anybody.
Yes, there are conniving custy's out there that will try and screw ya. But using that logic, a custy "COULD" bring his/her car to ya and get a free paint job, or body work for damage that was there when they bring it in(If ya don't catch it and note it). We are liable for any damage the custy claims happened while the car is in our care if it's not noted on a form SIGNED BY THE CUSTY. The courts here in Tenn have affirmed that!! We could sit and come up with all of the negative what ifs all day.
If I feel that the custy is taking advantage of me, being fraudulent, or just being an 455|-|0L3, I got NO PROBLEM telling them where to go.
I am pretty good at weeding out the jackasses. and I will deny warranty claims for intentional abuse. (Prolly need to word THAT in the paperwork). But the Custy that comes to me with a legit claim will be taken care of just as if they were a 1st time cash customer.

Dude, in the past 20 or so years, I've been screwed 20 different ways from Sunday!! IT'S HARD not to become jaded. I, too, hold grudges for a GOOD LONG WHILE!!! I just gotta step back and remind myself of WHO i'm mad at. Although sometimes it dont seem like it, MOST custys are good honest people. But you are 100% right.
