try a test antenna first (pull the radio plug in the test antenna) if it works his antenna is bad or being blocked by the tint ....if its still the same no am his tuner is bad.... thumb.gif thumb.gif beer.gif beer.gif

I had the same thing happen with a Charger this year. I put llumar ATR on the car.

I was honest with him and told him the tint was probably to blame if he want having problems before he had it tinted.

I told him we could remove the tint and replace it with a dyed version on the backglass. Oddly enough he just wanted it removed from the back glass all together Flaugh.gif The guy was happy with driving around with his 4 doors tinted and nothing on the back glass Flaugh.gif

But yeah i have had problems with the Charger myself.

Could be bad reception in his area dunno.gif I really don't have people with problems and I have used HP charcoal and Platinum plus for the last seven years. I have pp on my truck and wifes car. The am comes through clear, no static and we get all the stations, so maybe it is a problem depending on where they live and not the film. And if it's happening on certain cars maybe it's a defect, week antennas or something else because it should happen on every car if it was the film.

How long ago? Even if its three months at a longest, I gotta ask did it just start now? Or does he say its been like that and never called about it?

Yeah, I was going to say it's the film.

This is why I always suggest to them a metal free film when they have an embedded antenna.

You'd have to make sure the tint isn't touching the antenna.

So cut it above and below and remove that little tiny sliver! I know you can do it.

Either this is your first problem, or this is the first time the customer was smart enough to figure out why he can't listen to his talk radio and the Falcons game.

Rip it off and replace it with some Raven or QDP or something. Won't match for crap, but at least the problem is fixed, and since it's the rear window maybe they won't notice.

ATX?

Go pick up some Raven 1.0!

Advantage is advertising low prices on their website so I know the stuff is affordable.

I had a job at one of my dealerships on a Bentley Continental Coupe which the customer complained about the AM radio reception and the service writer told him that we can cut that section of film, which was about 3-4" off where the antenna lines were at.

When I got there, I told the service advisor that I will just cut the film off the antenna lines and see if that will work or not. I charged them $60 to do that and took me about 30 minutes to do. The customer never complained after that. I guess I fixed the problem and the car still looked great because it was completely tinted and not missing the top section. thumb.gif

i've done it 4 or 5 times and worked every time. have the radio on as you cut along the upper side of the top defrost wire or lower side of the antenna (between the defrost and antenna). you'll hear the difference once you finish the cut. thumb.gif it works.

I did one for an old man and the dyed film worked,
then I did one on a magnum wagon and forgot and put hp on it and a few days later he called so I went out there and listened to the am and nothing so as I pulled the film off I had the radio on and when the film was on its way off and then off no radio at all. I showed the guy and told him it's not the film and that I would put the dyed film on there and he can get the radio fixed at the dealership under warranty brand new magnum.
I told the why don't you back out the car and see if the am will come on outside of the garage so he proceeds to back out, after I move my truck and his trunk hatch is still open he catches it on the garage door and realized what he did so he trys to put his foot on the brake and it slips off and the car come back alittle more, his door opens and hits his new suburban and creases his fender at the rear tire he gets the car stopped and moves it forword and gets out, suburban 200.00 fix rear hatch 500 to fix garage door some more pounding with a hammer and it will be ok.
I felt bad for this guy so I did the window for free otherwise I would have charged him.

he was an insurance ajuster for auto shops and just the week before had a customer who put birthday presents in his tahoe and got into it to back it out of the garage and could'nt see if the glass was up or down and it was up and now in many pieces on the ground, the adjuster could'nt belive the story the guy told him, but when it happened to him he belived Flaugh.gif
