for everyone using elmer's blue glue for the matrix, there is a completely clear elmer's out now. imho works 1000 times better. i've done two now, one mustang, and one grand am, and they both turned out awesome! sorry if everyone has already seen it.

i will snap a pic of one i did last week as soon as i can, it looks awesome. and its a little runnier than the blue glue, which i almost think works better. but it doesn't clump, like the blue glue sometimes did, at least for me anyway.

I have never heard of this technique before.I am curious I would like to know will the Elmers glue be affected by the UV light of the sun after exposure? How long does it last?

Awesome tip-the clear seems to work better than the blue.I've noticed the blue not holding on all matrix-so far the clear is so much easier to work with and has held and dries invisible! thumb.gif

how much time should you let the film dry (I mean after squeezing), then peel and apply the glue?

i never wait. i blue max over it and peel it down so i can do the glue. been glueing like that for about 5 years now and never had a problem. well there are some cars that the blue glue doesnt really do a great job on so i would love to see how the clear works out.

Gents,

We probably get 3-4 calls per week about this topic. Although we understand it completely, trying to explain it over the phone is very difficult. If anyone has any pics that illustrate how to do this, please email them to me. I have a free roll of True Black for whomever sends us the best/most useful pics.

Please email it to me at howard@buytint.com

Thanks guys,

Howard

UPDATE - After it dried out it looked like poop.gif so I have adopted another technique. After the window has been installed, I take my side swiper and press on both ends of the blade real firmly and squeegee in an upward motion all the way across the window. I do it with Accord coupes too. When it dries out, it dries out white, but in a uniform appearance. Everybody likes this over ANY other method.

Try it. It works best! biggthumpup.gif

have any of you ever let the film hang down from the dots? usually what i do is, i will install the back glass first. i will go over the dots with my side swiper and then i will pull the film away from dots and allow the film and water dry off of the dots. i will continue on with the rest of the car. then after i am done with that i will put a little heat on the outside of the window around the dot area. i will then after that take a gray lidco card wrapped in a paper towel and work the film down 3" at a time from left to right until all the film is layed. it looks really good. even sometimes i will let it sit outside under the sun if i have time then come back and then lay the film down.

Flaugh.gif I was just being blunt with my opinion Flaugh.gif

You can sand the dots down with 2500 wet/dry sandpaper and it makes a big difference, many times you don't even need glue afterward.
