Peeling Liner, A Different Approach Options

I don't know if any of You guy's (and Lady's) do this already, but I peel My liner from bottom to top, and this is Why.

1) Water runs downhill. If You start Your spray at the top, anything that MAY be on Your peelboard will run onto the film. If You start at the bottom, You can lightly mist the top, with no excess water running onto the film.
2) If, when trying to pull the liner, Your fingernail grabs the film and bends it slightly, its much easier to heat that out at the bottom, instead of the top.
3) Much less likely to pull the film off the glass when pulling the liner.

Why would you use another window to peel the liner when doing fg? You cant reverse roll?

you could go to home depot and get a grey pvc pipe and cut it down to manageable widths. once you roll the film, put the pipe through, and it'll have enough weight for pretty much any size window

you could go to home depot and get a grey pvc pipe and cut it down to manageable widths. once you roll the film, put the pipe through, and it'll have enough weight for pretty much any size window

we just had a thread about this a week or two ago about how "the weight of the pipe is going to damage the customers floor"

I do a bit of flat glass and haven't yet damaged anyone's floor. If you put a towel(or 2) down to protect the floor from the water, it also dampens the pole hitting the floor

nice tip booms i'll have to give it a shot as for the smaller flat windows I peel the liner in the air, using both hands and my mouth very quick and efficient.

Can I offer you a tip then? Instead of pulling the liner from the bottom and working your way up. Turn the piece upside down and pull the liner only 3/4 of the way off the piece. This way you still have the liner on the bottom section of the film that touches the door panel, and prtotecting it from any dirt that maybe on it.

I have never once had any of those problems, once I figured out the proper way to leave some of the liner on... For example you dont pull the liner out, you pull it down. secondly your other hand is along the back of the film to ensure it does not come out on you...

What Felix said was farkin HILARIOUS! I just gave a tip to try and help My fellow tinters out. If You want to try it, fine. If You don't want to try it , that's fine to. This was a tip about peeling liner so You don't get contamination from Your peelboard, NOT about leaving the liner on, or taking it all the way off. I've tinted windows both ways. Leaving liner on, and peeling the entire liner. I prefer My way. If You like leaving the liner on, and You get good results, then by all means, keep doing it that way!
