How do you remove the third brake light?
I got the clips undone from inside the trunk, but I can't get it up and out of the hole it's in.
You have to dake the whole deck out
Great how do you take the deck out I've tried?
Fold the seats down (seat releases are in the trunk on the sides, take the bottom plastic mouldings out behind the seats, take out the side pieces of the seats, take out the plastic seat belt guide, take out the side pannels of the deck, take the speaker covers out, etc etc etc
must not be the same car this one doesn't have speaker covers. The seats fold down took out 3 plastic pins but the side pieces on the outer corners I can't figure them out. thanks anyways
How in the hell to those do pieces come out that are on the outer to sides of the back seats. I think that is the only thing hold the deck in.
I tinted one just like it about 3 months ago,as much as I hate to admit it I ended up triming around it.
Nice design...
I figured it out after about an hour.
cut around that damn thing, you know you can tint that in under an hour if you don't mess with the rear seat/deck removal??
yeah, but that wont fly in some areas. My customers are usually from hell.
this is the one that almost always breaks when you take it out isnt it?
if mine show signs of hell after i've cut one out, i tell them "it's for safety, so you won'd get pulled over for having one of your brake lights covered" or "it's not legal to have film that dark over your brake light" then they usually shutup or at the very least, stop bitchin'
i don't cut them all out, just the ones i dont feel like taking apart...and i wonder sometimes why my wife tells me tha i'm lazy???????
Well Z tell us the resy of the story cause I'm doing one right now and got the brake lite apart but can't move it out of the hole its in.Thanks
ET...check to see if that light is stuck in the urethane. I had 2 the other day that were like that. I had to cut the damn thing out!!!
We just pulled the casing off and worked the plastic holder out by moving it around and pushing down on the deck to make more room.Hope it goes back OK Snapped out like accord lite. Thanks FB
man, it's been so long since i took one out, i think i took the back deck out too....don't remember, i know the last one i did i cut around it....(i was bein lazy again)
I take out the rear deck on almost every car. I never cut the bk light.
I'VE ONLY DONE A HANDFUL OF THE LINCOLN LS
FIRST WAS A PAIN IN THE ASS BECAUSE I HAD TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO TAKE ALL THE CRAP APART WITHOUT BREAKING ANYTHING. NOW I PULL THE LIGHT APART, IT IS USUALLY STUCK BECAUSE OF THE URETHANE, BUT IT MOVES SLIGHTLY, IF YOU CAN PULL THE RUBBER PART OFF WITH OUT DAMAGING IT, THEN CLEAN GOOD BEHIND THE LIGHT. AFTER YOU TINT THE WINDOW YOU MIGHT HAVE TO PUT SOME ADHESIVE ON THE RUBBER SO IT WILL STICK ON THE PLASTIC
Do these cars have a seat release hidden somewhere? Or does it just come out like any othere rear seat? The one I have today is an 02.
Nevermind. Just let this old dog loose for awhile and he can figure things out too.
did one today, just cut around the taillite,, not worth the hassle to remove it
i have had my
It's in the trunk. I remember even the old ones with all the windows in the 80's did it too. Have they not advanced ? QUOTE (FastBackJack @ Jul 25 2003, 11:09 AM) ET...check to see if that light is stuck in the urethane. I had 2 the other day that were like that. Ive seen that happen to me a few times The red plastic part of the light is just embedded in urethane. Impossible to get out you usally can remove the light by first popping the two clips that hold the assemble in then press down as hard as you can on the carpeted rear deck and you can squeeze it out. Beware that putting it back in without damaging the tint is no easy task either QUOTE (Braud Spectrum @ Jan 21 2004, 12:08 PM) It's in the trunk. Depends on the battery......... Stock batteries are not very good.
de'javu
easy as can be,,,just remove the rubber gasket that is pressed up against the window.......slide tint behind the light ,use your sideswiper to squeegee the water,,,,put rubber gasket back on......no sweat and takes only a few minutes........DO NOT GO THRU THE HASSLE OF REMOVING LIGHT OR DECK......no need to do that......i do these cars all the time,,,by the way the 2004 model no longer has that light there
Two things I forgot! That stupid rubber thing is still laying out there in the shop. AND I drew a big ol' arrow on the bottom where I had a stubborn finger. I'd hit it several times in and out heating and jumping back in to lay it down. Wasn't sure if I was on because ithe package tray rolled down where I couldn't see...it was still there each time I got out to look...so I drew that big arrow with my sharpie. Got it then.
Tell them the truth and that they break when you disassemble them and if they like , have it removed by them or whover not a good trade off just to get under the light for the risk and time involved HAVE A NICE DAY
