Full Version: State Laws

The state of Minnesota's legal limit here is 50%. Now I know alot of people will want 35% to 20%. Do I make them sign a waiver stating they know that it is illegal and we will not be held responsible? Where can I find a draft of that waiver? Thanks

Waiver sweat.gif

Nothing but a paper trail right back to the person who knew it was against the law to begin with. Flaugh.gif

Keep it legal and keep us all in business and employed for a few more years! spit.gif

What he said..... beer.gif Showing proof you tinted it does nothing but show a paper trail you knew the risks. Regardless of what the paper says, in court one day the statement "He thought he was signing a receipt and didn't know it was being done illegally" could be said among 1000 other lies.

Not to mention if this type of BS can lead to government wanting to shut down tint shops, stop tinting period like some places. and as TD would say, bla, bla, bla, bla

Keep the headaches down and tint it legal. I have seen some places tint inllegal and make it cash only , give no receipts, I don't know you. But I disapprove. :gaybooga thumbdown.gif

So there is nothing I can do?? Even the big name companies like Ziebart here in Minnesota make you sign waivers. What is the worse thing that could happen? Them shutting us down?? mad3.gif

A waiver is an admission of guilt on your part.

Keep it legal. thumb.gif

thumbdown.gif a shop in my town tried that several years back and it cost them 30,000 dollars in fines by the Califorina Highway Patrol trust.gif

spit.gif sweat.gif rollin.gif Flaugh.gif that big name company doesn't exist here anymore due to the quality work they turned out....and probably because they were using waivers. Flaugh.gif

Understand a few things here.

If you have them sign:

You admit you are doing something illegal by installing the film
The company admits the same

A waiver, like everyone has said, is not worth the parper it is printed on

They have been tintin barker tints for as long as I can remember, still around here I dont know about where you guys are at but they still here. Nobody around here likes the legal 50%...No way will i survive.

So in other words, you guys are tellin Midwest to close up shop?

If 50% is the law, we all know the customers will just drive to another state and get it tinted. The other shop isn't going to care what tint is on it if the car lives out of THEIR state.

So i can drive to Texas and get TTS to put some 5% on my rolldowns! rollin.gif

I dont think that is going to happen! Most shops that have a little sense keep it legal for all our futures! inot.gif

Well, I know it happens now.

The boss has a waiver for owners w/ out of state tags to sign to tint to SC legal,(or as close as we get). We have alot of GA, & NC customers.

I also know that Minnesotans drive to Fargo, and Grand Forks, ND to my buddies shops to get their cars done.

FC most shops are tinting illegal in nd I have talked to the hp office and they have told me that they have picked up 10 times as many illegal tints now that the law has changed. Would like to see fines for the Customer of upwards to $10,000 and for the shop the same this will smarten up some of these wise arses in a hurry. Hit em where it hurts!!!!!!! mad3.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
