Full Version: Mitsubishi 3000gt help
hey guys, i was working on a 3000Gt yesterday and had a lot of difficulty w/ the driver and passenger glass. i think its because the glass was really curvy. the tint just kept bubbling and eventually folded. i tried twice and it didnt work out. do i need to using the shinking method for this?

Yep...that's one of the few cars out there that you need to shrink the door glass windows on the outside 1st.
I am normally not a panel puller but it will help to pull the panels on it, and yes you have to shrink them (good luck)
Shrink them, this is one car that sucks worse than a ford!
i take the door panels off that car also. it has a BULB SEAL type gasket thet you cant tuck. those doors are a mother fvcker to tint
yup, i had the panels off but it was just crazy how the tint kept folding from all that extra fingers. the fingers were the size of a baseball bat. it just seemed impossible. so shrinking method it is!!!!!!!!
QUOTE (Mdog @ Aug 16 2004, 06:25 PM) back in the day when that car was out and heat forming wasnt around it was a freaking nightmare. I remember those well
Fun car! Would never attempt to tint one without the heat gun.
Got one coming over to today !!!

[*]275407[/*] I'm glad to see this- I was trying to do the side windows on my Stealth today (I'm no pro by any means -done 10 cars or so, did the qtr and back window (strips) last year) and had a horrible time, finally tore the tint off and gave up...couldn't get rid of the fingers no matter what -window looks flat enough :p
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
