Full Version: corvette one piece
i have 93 corvette to do in the morning,,its been a long time since i have done one of these...back in the old multi piece rear window days,,,whats yur opinionon doing the rear hatch on these..i am asking you because know u are the expert with the vettes,,thanks
anyone?
havent done one in 6 weeks, IM a little rusty.
Do the back window seemless in 3 pieces,do the middle in one big piece, and then seem it along the last defroster line on each side
It can be done in 1 piece but it is a biatch, you need to remove the shocks holding up the glass to do it in one piece.
those are cake...dont worry about it..the top has a little shrinking to do but not bad...and the bottom isnt that bad either...just take your time..good luck..
I also preferr to turn the tint sideways on the middle piece and shrink it on the sides instead of the top and bottem.(good luck)
ok,,thanks for the replies,..i just needed a little confidence boost on this one,,,its been almost 5 years since i have done one of these....also have an 86 camaro coming in next week,,,those are a blast from the past around here,,probably about 6 or 7 years since doing one of the old school camaros
(tintslut @ Aug 31 2004, 07:58 PM) havent done one in 6 weeks, IM a little rusty. Cake job
I do it exactly like paladin.
remove one shock at a time. Put channel locks on the one that you've left on the glass. Makes life a little easier
i just finished doing the corvette.........back window took some skill but it came out great....cut perfectly around the shocks....middle in one piece, then butt seam the end curves..couldnt even tell it was pieced......i charged 125 for the hatch but i think can possibly charge more next time....alot of work and time
Glad it turned out so well for you! Mr P is the man when it comes to Vets...he has owned a couple and wants a new one

I did an '85 Monday with Mdog's soap method. Roughly 5 minutes to shrink the whole thing (Yes, in one piece). One wierd thing though, it did not have a defroster. I don't remember ever doing a vette without a defroster. This thing was in show-room condition.
It is a little challenging to do the back glass in one piece but if you take your time, it can be done.
Final results.
yea it is challenging.
good job. i didnt know anyone who can one piece that mofo besides my step dad, but there u go. only in the bay area i say.
piece of cake i dont know about the 05 they are different and harder just like something is different about the 05 si it was a biatch.
HEY TC call me..Joseph
