Just pull very hard on one of the sides. It may feel like your going to break the thing, but you wont.

Tried that and still wouldn't come out..How does it release??

yea where is the release? I have taken that top piece off just can't figure it out!!

Pierce is right... you just pull really really hard and that dang thing will release. Although putting it back in is a different story, especially when one of the front metal clips falls into the rear deck you can't get to. Good luck.
