i suppose ive been lucky in tha fact that any plexi removal ive done hasnt been too bad. I've been able to peel the film layer and scrub off the excess adhesive with one of those sponges with the white netting around it, cant think of the name of it.....

i also use a product called De-Solve-It to loosen the adhesive, works great. i get it at one of my many local Wally Worlds..

hope that helps, tree beer.gif

I had a guy wanting me to tint some windows on his helicopter bling-bling.gif
Turned out to be plexi and I asked him how much the windows would be to replace them hmmmmmmm.gif
He told me the plexi was not that much, but the total bill would be about a grand a piece Fbigeyes.gif
(he had to replace one before)
So I suggested that he use the kling stuff orngbiggrin.gif

DUDE, trust me.... ive removed from plexi many times.... peel the dang tint, use one of the white sponges and a good solvent.... 17 yrs says it works.. TRUST ME!!
TINTFX
by the way, the heat from the steam will cause the plexi to flex, which will not allow you to scrape on an EVEN angle.....

heat+plastic (plexi) = warping......

and you dont want to scrape on the plexi anyway, even if the blades are the crappy plastic ones, you'll scratch the plexi......

that would be the day when i remove tint on plexiglass. thumbdown.gif

duel2.gif .... years ago i removed 300ft. of plexiglass on a "florida room" .this was the worst thing id ever seen or done. i used a mix of denatued alcohol, ammonia, and lots of soapy in the mix. this worked well i used several towels and spray mix in about a 2 sq.ft. area and rub circular. the adhesive melted like butter, came right off!..... the towels were trashed but like 8 hours later and a hot plate of dinner from the nice old lady i was driving home. my boss told me $500.00 but gave me $600 cuz the lady called and said i did such a good job linedrink.gif

Is it a small single engine plane with a bubble canopy???
I talked to an older guy last week at an airshow that had tinted the top of his canopy himself, in strips. Allwrinkled... looked like poop.gif .
ninjatinter
Hey FX? Are you talking about a DOBIE scrubber? Thaught I could jar your memory eyebrows.gif

Removal on plastic glass works without scratches if there is a scratch resistant surface. There is a 99% chance that the glass used for any plane does have that. It is always a good idea though to demand a small testing area whenever you are in doubt. Or even when not, shows you are professional shows you care.

The protective SR coating you speak of Kohler, can also come up when the film is peeled off. PS adhesive will take it (SR coating) off reflective coated glass and window film... stands-to-reason lifting the SR is possible with acrylic and polycarbonate. evilgrin.gif

Good to have you back metint. Someone has to fill in the gaps in my knowledge. I am glad I demanded the testing area. Always leave yourself room for sliding out.

now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
