Less than $4/sq.ft. for R&R grinning_and_saying_no.gif That's a bunch of crap. evileye.gif

I just bid a job at $9.75, basically because I have no frikkin idea how I would get to the windows. Flaugh.gif If they accept, I'll call a scaffolding dude...and GUS. sweat.gif
Devil with bad attitude
I get that regularly in flat glass.

Like only last week.....I get recommended to do a small tint job of less than 40 sq.ft from another tinter friend because it's on my side of the city.

I make arrangements with the dude immediately, great service, he alters can't make it now and 2 days later I ring back and he has had it done. mad3.gif
Arsehole never even rang me back out of coutresy. All I can say is some idiot (and I know who) must be desperate for the job as it involved 6 panes and some 10 miles each way.

As far as I was concerned, the dude was lucky enough to even get me. He wasn't doing me the favour, I was. Flaugh.gif Fwit!

You didn't say that he went with a dealer with a lower price. Perhaps he went with a higher price with more perceived value. $4 per square foot to R and R a failed product with a quality product???
tint goose
4$ per sq to r&r I think Heavy D is on to something your comp. might have gone it at a higher price and told the customer look this is what you get for a 4$ tint i.e. Im removing the 4$ job (I fix the 99
$ tint job) beer.gif

Wow Fbigeyes.gif Does that now make 'Tint' the hack in this scenario? ohcrap.gif poking_someone_in_the_eye.gif Flaugh.gif

Flaugh.gif installing for 4.00/sq. is cheap much less R&R

I drove by the job site, looks like he only had it removed,

at first i quoted him 6.00per, is not normal for me to be charging 4 per , but in this area there is alot of Hack shops low balling my offfers, what i do is i give them a written estimate, and that's where they use my estimate and show to others to get a better deal.

its amazing mostly on the customers side.

im in the process of getting my contractors license, waiting for state to call or mail a test date. (soon)
pmuzik
It is tough sometimes to deal with lowballers. Fortunately I am in an area where that is not the norm but if I run into it I accept it and move on. Not worth wasting the time IMHO thinking about it, more important things to do. I have established a bottom line number that covers my job and Overhead costs and I will not go under it period. I will not do something knowing it will just break even. If I run into customers that want to play the price game I thank them for there time and I'm out of there.
Felix Da Cat
You never know why a customer makes the choices they make. I have learned it is alot less related to price (with in reason) then most people think. One time I landed a $8000.00+ job with a construction company. I offered Llumar R20 and my closest competetor under bid me with 3M's silver. The customer later told me they liked my film sample better because it felt thicker. The reason for that is 3M made their sample without the liner. People make decisions for all kinds of reasons. You just need to decide what you are willing to do your job for and not focus on your competition.
TINT
maybe after you give them the estimate you point a .45 on they're face, and say, SO DO I GET THE JOB? spit.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
