Good way to get winter business

I know that alot of you guys will think this is a bad idea. but for the last two winters I have offered "free removal with new tint jobs" and it accounts for over 80% of my winter business. The way I look at it... I would rather be making money by doing free removals than sitting around the shop watching tv.

Free removal of tint?

Don't take this the wrong way..and it may be because I've been crawling around in back seats slinging tint for over 20 yrs but ...

I guess your labor has no value icon_confused.gif

we offered 10% off, or 20 dollars of a COMPLETE R & R before, capitalized on the change in the tint law last year, but NEVER a free removal... that's sickening... might as well do a xx dollar install dunno.gif inot.gif still cheapens the market dunno.gif

Its cheaper to stay home or in the shop and not lift a finger than to get abused for free labor to make a couple of dollars. I would feel violated on that one.

I know you guys think its a stupid idea, But the tinting industry is so dependant on weather, and when someone has bad film they are usually doing it for estetic reasons and not so much for heat reduction. I usually do over 40 removals a month and believe me it can be very profitable. Usually it only ads about 45min to the tint job.
Trim Ideas
I go on a case by case basis. When they call or come by, let them know how difficult it is to remove such tint. And if the tint removal task doesn't seem to awfully difficult in this case, let them know you are going to cut them a break, free maybe, if they do it soon(now) or later that day. If it's slow you can still cut them a break, but let them know. Use good sales techniques.

Best way to get winter business is to fly far south to downunder and bring your T-shirt and thongs along with your tools. rollin.gif

Knowing my luck the only cars we'll get will take two hours to take off. I love the smell of freshly removed tint in the morning.

SIR TINTSALOT
yeah I believe in cutting deals when business is slow, but I won't be offering free removal. Thats the part of the business I hate the most, so I'm definitely not going to offer it for free

Tint45' Boss :

"Paul I heard of this brilliant winter marketing strategy where we will be offering free removal..So get off ur azz and get ready to be even busier. Oh and we will need u to work on ur days off this winter because our business will prob double. Oh and lastly, we just got a VW dealer contract so our Beetle tinting will quadruple.."

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
