Small business software

Just curious as to what kind of software you small business owners use for record keeping and so forth. I have experience with Quickbooks and such with several small businesses but they all only had a single office. In my latest venture we currently have four separate shops as well as two mobile units equipped with laptops. I will have to implement a system that can be accessed by all users through a network. Any suggestions on the best/most reliable software package to achieve this?

We are in the process of creating a servic3e specific software, that you can either install on your computer and use over the network or as a webpage.

More info coming soon.

I would definitely be interested in seeing this software. I like the idea of a program created with window tinting in mind. thumb.gif

Quickbooks Pro Premiere Retail version. Boss just installed it about 2 weeks ago. I don't really use it much other than scheduling, but damn is it nice. Basically does it for you, like if you have a register like us, when you punch the buttons on the register to make a sale, if you have the reg. linked to your computer, it will automatically enter it into your accounting ledger on the program without doing anything. Plus if you have expenses, you can ring those up through the register as well and it punches them in for you.

Spendy, about 400-500 bucks I think he said for the program alone, but well worth it thumb.gif

Thanks for the suggestions orngbiggrin.gif Upon further review I think we will be implementing quickbooks. One of our neighbours here runs a small computer store and he uses a version called quickbooks POS (that's point of sale..hehe). You can set it up with a barcode scanner and print a label for anything that is a sellable item. We also sell auto accessories and this seems ideal for tracking inventory and saving time on looking up information on any given part. I think it runs around $600.00 to get the proper licensed copy but will be well worth it in the long run.

Oh yeah and most importantly I can assign the IP addresses of each computer at our different locations to sync up to a singular database where any employee can check stock on any item at all of our locations. Also cumulative sales and inventory are tracked in real time. Can't wait

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
