What are some of the ways you clean flat glass before tinting. Just checking to see if there's a much easier way someone has stumbled upon.....

I guess I'll be the member here to ask this question:

With 12 yrs experience ...what method are you using that is not that easy in your opinion . We'll start with that and we'll take it from there smile22.gif

I find that using a sponge with sand in it to be very ineffective, so don't try that.

Sorry, I felt compelled.

Fair questions I guess. I probably should've clarified that the vast majority of my experience has been with automotive and not flat glass. What've I've done in the very distant past is ordinary soap and water, a sponge, a squeege and if needed a razor blade.

OK, the sysem I've used for all these yrs is alcohol / water mixture with 4" short -handled scraper blade , then I Scrubbie it with non - abrasive pad with same mixture, then squeegee , then water squeegee, then inspect . Wiping the sides of frames throughout.

I change a bit of the technique depending if it's old wooden frames, painted, etc.

Also, when you use the triumph scraper, try to use the same side of the blade all the time to keep it sharper and from scratching the glass. It's always a good idea to test the glass first in an inconspicuos place by listinening and feeling for a certain grit sound. If you hear that, the glass is scratching, and you should not use the blade on it at all.

wet it, scrape with a triumph, wet it again and then squeegee it off and then wipe the edges. takes all of about a minute

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
