Im having trouble with the back window on this Pug, has anyone got any tips on shrinking it I seem to be getting creases everytime I do them. How do you stop the fingers going down the sides, I have squeegeed them but they still dont seem to stop ??????

Tinter but still learning. Its the bottom corners that seem to crease really easy the rest of the window is perfect.

Are you wet shrinking or dry shrinking?
Take your time and if possible do both - dry then wet to get it to sit down properly. Have patience, and Good Luck
...i let fingers pop up down each side then leave after installed, get on with other parts
of the job then just run a littel heat from the outside and push flat...like RJE said take your time...first times allways a bugger...
i heard they had to be spliced
powder shrink them, leave your anchors narrow at the sides so they cover the matrix and a little clear glass.
leave it long at the top so you can pull it down a little when you overcook the edges at the bottom. Not one for the novice I'm afraid. Naughty
i did one today, while i was at work at my week job. i used the mdog soap method. in 1 piece. took a couple of hours to shrink it. but it worked out right. only to then go and upset myself by burning it once i put it inside, had a awkward finger in one of the top corners and it got the better of me
so i chopped the top 5inches off then spliced it. instead of redoing the whole thing. by the time i'd done, you couldn't see the join on the defroster line i dont use the "H" anchor anymore. i just use the 2 dot method ![]() ![]() ![]()
in my opinion - you have to powder those - and all I do is soap shrink now!

i've never tried the powder, so wasn't really an option for me. it shrunk ok with saop method anyway. it works for me
this was my first 206 too. least the door cards come off easy too. and just popped the back sides out, only 3 torx screws.
a couple of houres to shrink!! id be gutted if it took me that long then i burned it.
done a few 206's and still h@te them but try new golf mk 5.
yeah was slightly gutted!!!, lol

I normaly do those in 2 peace - cut on 2nd bootom line(takes 15min) today i did it in 1pcs, 2nd try, burned tde bottom edge.
p.s: I did about 20 of those & i h@te them too.
did one today for the first time and had to leave the car in the garage cannot do the back window tried about ten bloody times. what do you lot mean in two pieces i didnt think of doing that dow do you make a perfect cut in the defroster line ?

finished the car today wasnt really happy with the way it went going a pug rear screen for my unit to do over and over now.

THIS INDUSTRY IS TOUGH Not everyone can become a car window tinter - I think you need a year in a tint shop before your able to handle any car - other industries plumbers, carpenters get away with charging a hell of a lot more, why shouldn't we charge more for our expertise. Too many people in this industry willing to screw you over once they have got what they need - good thing is that once you have been around a few years and your customers have tried the fly by night cheapo tints they come back to you, making it more difficult for new comptetion to get a foot in the door. I'd doubt that carl is wanting to offer cheapo tint prices in order to undermine experienced tinters .. i think he has enough to think about with his tinting as hes just starting out. Apologies - reading it back it turned into a bit of a rant I never slate any ones work to customers instead I focus on how good we are. Just seems as though few people are in this for the long term these days - seems to be get as much as you can as quick as you can, do shoddy work and let others pick up the pieces. Rant over

Thing is it doesn't matter if they are on your doorstep - there is plenty of work out there, without going into your customers and slagging you off.
I do quite a few of these and to shrink them in one piece is quite trickey as you can see from all the mistakes made by people on here.
Just do it in 2 pieces and splice them across one of the heater lines. The lines are pretty think on the 206 so you can hide the cut pretty well. I have one in today and the guy suppllied his own film he bought of ebay. Was already cut in 2 pieces but wasnt metalized so couldnt be heat shrunk and the join would have crossed over 3 heater lines and looked so bad. Install a film on one of these that aint metalized - Impossible!! I'm using my own film and charging him more. At the end of the day I dont want to send a car out of my shop that looks crap. Looks bad for me. So get it done right, even if the back window has to be done in 2 pieces. Good luck mate. why is that funny? Actually, you CAN tell by weight. Although, I doubt many humans can feel it with their hands.
There used to be a company (Llumar??) that had a chart of all the weights of their film and the weight at varying lengths left on the roll. All you were supposed to do was set the film on a digital scale, get the weight, then find that number on the chart and that number then told you with a foot or so of what was on the roll. Don't know how reliable that was, but no doubt it was probably pretty accurate. A little cumbersome though. It´s easy.
Dry shrinking, and cut the film bigger than normal, fix it, and leave extra film down and be patient.
