Full Version: Saturn Ion 2 Door
I'm doing a Saturn Ion tomorrow and it looks like a piece of cake. Anybody done one that can confirm my assumption?? By the way...........WHAT UP DOGGS??????????????? Tizzy's back in the Hizzy lol
It's a Saturn, anything can happen...
Hey come on Gramps, a little more help than that, I'm a newbie lol You guys suck all you do is talk down on us guys asking the dumb questions. hahahahaha
TE, dont worry dude, theyre easy.
If it has a hard plastic dust shield and your film's scratch resistant coating does'nt work it will eventually leave fine scratches. I've got an 03 Ram coming back tomorrow for the very same thing.
Thanks. It looks like a total cake job, just was curious is all. talk to you all soon.
I thought it was just me...do all tinters dislike Saturns?
TTC
Tinting saturns is starting to take a little longer, Im talking about the ION's and VUE's. If you are not installing the felt that is available on the dust shields of ION"S and VUE'S then you are asking for all of those to come back to you with the tint scratched. No matter what brand of tint you use it will scratch. You will have to take off the door panels and clean the seals real good before you intall the felt.
Saturn ION's, VUE's and Dodge Trucks are the worst at sctatching film that I know of at this time.
Mercedes are great at scratching film too!!

Piece of cake!! The only thing I had the smallest problem with was getting the film behind the rubber seal. It kept pushing up against the film and making fingers. I got that shiznit though, and it came out b*mb. Next!
I have a soulution to this problem. New Mercedes, Saturns and Dodges no longer have a soft felt sweep. Scratching is going to happen so.....what we do is take those plastic or rubber sweeps out and sand them with 100 grit sand paper. Sand them till they feel soft. Roughing up the surface seems to solve that problem. It gives dust some place to hide.
I searched this site to see if anyone had mentioned this. Didn't find it mentioned. Sorry if i am revisiting an old subject. I am not familiar with "Felt Strips" Where do I get them. I am assuming that they are an adhesive sided roll of felt?
CR Laurence. Part # C5901. Moleskin Felt liner. Beat ya to it Olfa.
Thanks Oldtinter. (looking it up in the catalog now.
Just ordered 2 rolls and they will be here monday. Thanks again.
What do you tell the customer and how much do you charge. It seems to me like its the resposibility of the tinter to prevent a problem he know is there....but then again "don't let the customers problem become your problem" I dunno.
I charge $75 for 4 doors. It's not OUR problem, it's a bad design. They know it too. Probably saves them 50 cents a car. Their choice, pay me, or take it to the nut down the road who doesn't know what's up, and you'll have problems, or do it yourself(customer) It's an easy sell, even for me.
on the 2 doors, just like grand prixs do you guys pull any seals or are you just tucking behind the side seal? I cant tell you how many times i have creased film trying to get it to go behind that on prixs, doing an Ion this week and it looks like a pain in the ASS. Is there anyway to pull those?
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
