QUOTE (mountainman @ Mar 9 2005, 11:12 AM) seems like ppl on here get mad when i talk about advertising but i really cant see how you can afford not to do it at least for me...i see a direct correlation between when i run a newspaper ad and how much business i have...BUT...newspaper advertising is cheap for me...for $31.50 i am gonna run a 2 column inch by 3 ad every week if it continually doubles my business and gets me brand new customers [*]265533[/*] I wish it was that cheap in chicago
how much do you guys pay a month for the yellow pages??
QUOTE (mountainmang @ Feb 22 2006, 06:18 PM) 0.00 [*]374620[/*] Now with multiple phone books out there, big ads cost too much and just don't do what you'd think to draw in the money. 3 rules of business: 1) Get the money 2) Get the money 3) Keep the money every chance you get.
I've only been on my own tinting for 2.5 years, but I just got a small ad in the phone book here, which just came out three months ago. So far, I've had one call from it. Granted, it's still winter, so we'll see how this spring/summer goes. (That one call has been an est. only - but hopefully will turn into a sale)
I've heard both sides of the coin... But I wanna at least try everything once if I'm able to afford it. So I'll give it a year and see if it pays off or not. If not, then I won't renew. RoAcH
Newspaper has been a waste of money for us. Yellow pages is a must (even though expensive). Advertising on our trucks...many people call from their cars while following one of our vehicles. But the #1 source is referrals. Treat a customer right and they'll tell several others who will tell others. Treat a customer wrong and they'll tell everyone they know. Also, helps to have a lot of traffic past your location.
QUOTE (formula-autodetailing @ Feb 22 2006, 08:12 PM) how much do you guys pay a month for the yellow pages?? [*]374613[/*] Yellow pages rates vary very widely by area as well as size and type of ad. We have 3 stores and are in 5 books so our YP bill is huge. Call your local phone company. A rep will come out to see you free of charge and help you design an ad. You don't need a big ad to be effective. Even an in column listing is good...add color or a white background if you can afford the extra charge...it will be worth it. The ad will stand out.
Here in central FL. we have free mags that are placed in markets and restaraunts around the county. I run quarter page ads for $80 a month. I get tons of calls and about 20% of those calls actually get tinted.
Both my vehicles are lettered (sucks tho cuz now I have to drive carefull). I have also placed realtor sized signs in various developments around town. Sometime I even leave my truck out by a major roadway QUOTE (TintWizard @ Jan 30 2005, 07:25 PM) [*]253347[/*] Black with Reflective Yellow has always been my Biz colours very nice QUOTE (eric_64chev @ Jan 30 2005, 01:11 PM) [*]253212[/*] What do you use for advertising? I use my a large sign out front, a website, lettering on the car, and referrals. The website's still pretty new, so haven't seem much from it yet. Lettering on the car has worked out pretty well. Referrals is where most the work comes from though.
We use ValPak, Money Mailer, The Clipper, Newspapers, YP, Billboard, radio, local coupon books and the Yahoo/Google PPC (limited)
Word of mouth is nice, but we are still new to the market area and that takes time.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
