Just wondering if these are as a big of a pain in the butt as the 04's?
blade
Cake job...But I never have considered the Pontiacs a pain. dunno.gif Either way...if you don't like doing the '04 then you won't like the '05. Seals pull right out...tape the felt on the sides...easy back window. thumb.gif

I'd never done an 04, just saw someone on here said that they were a pain.

Thanks.

With the right tools it is orngbiggrin.gif

If you are meaning a long reaching tool for getting down where you can't fit even your hand and a squeegee down against the rear deck let alone your hand ...we have plenty.

Actually, we have most the tools that are in the new 44tools catolouge. Not all of them, and many sit unused, but we try them all out when they come up with a new tool. Never hurts to drop 5 bucks on a new tool if it could mean easier, quicker, cleaner installs...especially since I don't have to pay for them thumb.gif

Just curious, what tools are you speaking of just so I can whip them out if and when it pulls into the shop?

I'm refering to the bulldozer orngbiggrin.gif

Not the only tool you can use...but if you have/can get one...will be much easier ..tight when you go WAY back there thumb.gif

I've done many 04 grand prixs , must be ready to make relieve cuts on defroster lines sometimes as many as 8. Whoa that was a scary one! Are those lines thick or is it my film ? Very easy car, you'll need a slim foot or big foot for rear window.

Relief Cuts?!

I just did an 05' gp 4dr. , ezy as pie ! Pulled door seals and on b/g just pressed down on the deck while I used the modified sideswiper , came out perfect with a lil' extra heat from halogen worklight . inot.gif

Must have lost his heatgun dunno.gif

No kidding... WTF is a relief cut?
TintWizard
A relief cut was used mainly in the 80's B4 heat shrinking:

..taking a finger and moving it just above/below a heater wire and cutting along the wire up to the length of the finger, then cutting one half of the finger lay over top the other half with the thickness of the "overlap" directly on top of the heater wire giving it the illusion of invisible orngbiggrin.gif
Exact-Oh
I know... just being sarcastic... I have been around awhile, and have experience with relief cuts. Just not in the past 10 years.

I just did an '04, and pulled the rear deck as soon as I saw it. The speaker grills are like an inch from the glass. I didn't think I could even roll over them, so I yanked the deck. 4 bolts and two x-mass tree fasteners that are a pain to get to. But, after that it was cake.
tintnfool
Get one of them there bulldozers and the rear deck is no longer a problem with most cars and you get to keep the skin on your knuckles!!! bingo.gif
jtm999
what a big back window this thing has the bulldozer is a must with this car, even then its still kind of a pain. also has the dot matrix and some antenna or something that sticks off the glass on the inside that has to be cut around. the doors are easy though just pull the panel back a little and pull the gasket out. the one i did was brand new and the battery was dead after 2 hours at least i found out there finally putting a decent motor in there cars a 5.3 V-8 it must be fast i guess.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
