Sliding glass doors

My room is an addition to the house, the door is a regular sliding glass door. I used to have it painted but the paint got pushed around from people pushing the glass to open the door. I was thinking about getting some real dark tint and trying to tint them.
Could I do that myself with no experience? Would it be costly? Would anyone be able to see in through the tint? Could I see out?
Thanks in advance if you can help me w/ my ?'s

I don't think I would practice on something that big. Big doors. Hard to handle film that big, peel and keep clean installing. Lots of film to maybe waste.

Just keep in mind that the reflective properties of tint reverse at night so you wont be able to see out at night while others can see in, also if you have thermopane windows, your limited to the type of film you can put on..for professional results though..have a professional do it , that way you get the right film for the job.

I didn't know they reversed, maybe I'll just slap some more paint on them, it'd be a mega pain taking them out to get them to a shop.

check in the phone book under glass tinting and you should find someone that does residential tinting. They come to your house and will install the film RIGHT. You can go with a real dark or reflective film or you could have a decoritve film installed (sandblasted, acid-etch, look) That will give you total privacy and still let a bit of light in the room.

Great.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
