CRANK YANKER (put the window in a bind)

Custom Search

Mdog
this only works with manual crank windows.

when you roll up the glass push hard on the crank when it bottoms out and 99% of the time the window will bow away from the door panel gasket giving you all the room you need to feed the film behind the gasket.

normally when you roll the window up the gasket stays against the glass, but that added extra pressure you can put on the crank when it bottoms out makes the glass bow away from the bottom gasket, works like a mug. no gasket tucking or panel pulling needed when you do this. thumb.gif after you let it dry for a bit you can tap the crank back and the glass will drop back to its normal position.

Makes perfect since!
Power windows top out and go no further.
Manual windows effectively over ride that problem, putting the glass in bind, so to speak.
I will keep it in mind if I ever see a vehicle with manaul windows.
Most of our jobs are newer vehicles, forgot that there ever were
manual windows!:LOL Flaugh.gif

they do make "metals" for that bottom gasket... try filmhandler.com hehe and wouldnt that be pointless as for getting your top edge... seems pointless to me thumbdown.gif

Not all things on here make sence, but it pays to open your mind. smile22.gif

(Good tip, but I would still pull the panel, but that's just me.)

You mean GASKET WIZARD? never heard those called "METALS" before sweat.gif

Install the top half of your tint then roll the glass up and put alittle extra umph on the crank when it bottoms out. it will bow the glass away from the gasket, peel the bottom part and flush the glass the squeege the tint. no fvcking around with GASKET WIDARDS/METALS necessary. it takes a extra 1/2 second to do this.

If you cant understand what i am talking about CAROLINAPAPERDOOD broken.gif hys.gif

Everybody knows that GASKET WIZARDS do dont get me wrong, but this way you need no extra tools and about a half second extra work. finger.gif

Jam up tip Dog, I still have to yank a few handles on these hillbilly swamp rides from around here.
Not too many in the middle, either tired azz old hooptie, or brand new from the dealership.

Metals? hmmmmmmm.gif oh that shiot poop.gif cars used to be made of, no we dont use that either
I would like to get some of that spray though! bingo.gif

finger.gif yes the gasket wizards... made from metal... a holes... and you are more likely to get trash in the bottom part of the glass that way compared to pulling the panel or using "metals" thumb.gif and yah he has been tinting longer but that doesnt seem logical to me especially for the totw... and i understand it only takes 1-2 secs but to put in "metals" and take them out takes 1-2 secs. as well... finger.gif bat.gif krazy.gif lol2.gif

yeah you don't need to do that....we already know it. Years and years of customers, stupid questions, dealing with new cars and windows every year, film cuts, razorblade cuts, climbing in and out of cars, creasing, kinking, burning, yanking, and trashing film have turned us all into 'A HOLES.' how you liking the flaming so far carolina?
Exact-Oh
This is a great tip. I have always been a panel-puller, but those frickin' hyundia's window crank clips are a @#$% to remove. I have done a couple of them, and my tool for removing the clips does not work well on them for some reason. I always think that maybe their clips are a different size, and last time I had one here, I asked my Snap-On dealer if he had another tool for removing them, and he didn't. Once I finally get them off, I saw that they are the same dimensions, but still nasty to remove.
blade
yep...on those cranks I use a dentist type hook tool. slide it in twist it and hook the clip and pull it out. Still a little bit of pain sometimes, but it works better than the basic crank clip remover.

bingo.gif That's exactly what I ended up using. I think it has something to do with the way the plastic is molded on the back of the handle. Not one of my favorites.

We call 'em Jesus clips
