Full Version: Just wondering.....

Key West
how many of you go the extra step and blue max flat glass? I have heard that there are those who don't. Back in the day, all I had to work with was a "Black Smoothie" squegee and a hard card. I was just wondering who blue maxes, and who doesn't. Not an attack on anyones technique, 'cuz we all know that the water will dry. Thanx dunno.gif devilangel.gif

always...I don't consider it an 'extra' step.

i blue max and after that I take a 5 way and wrap a paper towel around it and go over the window again.

hang it , tack it, trim it, 6 inch blue max it, & wick edges orngbiggrin.gif

blue max is tto soft for us. we power squegee everything except french panes. Blue max french panes or tube squegee it.

I'm sorry guys im new to the game. what is "blue max"??
metint
This is my preference... except I now use the Blue Maxx Squared blade instead of the one with a bevel edge.
aliveandawake
yep. I use the 6" power squeegge on everything. I tried the blue max a few years ago and thought the edge wore out too quick. Is this still true or should I give it another try? The squared of one sounds like it would be a better choice for flat..

Ohhhh ok thanks guys! alot of great info in here! Learning alot!

Exactly the same technique V except I prefer the clear 4" Max if that's what it's called?
I feel it has a bit more flex in it than the blue yet the same pressure can be applied.
Would never go back to the days of just running over it with a 12" brass Etore squeegee anymore. Fine for cleaning windows for film application but that's about the limit of it and then it's back in the tool box for you.

I have never once used a 5 way. I've never liked 'em. They just seem too big. I just use a white hard card. dunno.gif

Use to go over with the five way until I realized it WAS an extra step... minimum two squeegee passes and a wrapped hard card bumping of the edges... next window, please. heh.gif
VO|TRON
same thing metint, i use the 5 way to hit the edges.

as far as the 5 way being to big, i trim a few inches off tha front of it cause yea they a big if you dont.

same here. i train guys with a 5 way (kinda like training wheels) but once they are good enough i get them metal hard card that i make out of a putty knife. i have seen a hundred hard cards and nothing comes close woowoo.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
