Today I tinted a chrysler neon, they may be known under another name in the US? The doors were easy, the rubbers tucked easily so no problems there, but the back glass...what a pain. I tried it first in a hp film with a powder shrink, I got it down eventually but struggled with the bottom corners, I kept getting little creases there!! The top of the glass has what I can best describe as a striped area of ceramic lines, not a matrix, I mounted the film and it just flippped off, it would not stick to this area?? In the end I treated it with dot devil solution and wire wooled it, I then shrank a piece of standard dyed suntek film and this went ok, it was a lot easier to shrink the HP film. I still had a couple of little fingers that popped up but I got it down in the end. I dont like trashing film but seem to struggle with the more difficult windows in HP - any tips anyone? Ta Naughty

I know this won't be everyone way ND..but I use a 24" roll for the back window for an easy shrink and vinyl the top lines.

I thought some of you guys would recommend the vinyl...have you ever tinted the lines...how do they normally turn out?

I find it works out alright tinting it too..I just have a personal problem with heatshrinking film heavily on a matrix/black lines area. If you choose this way, make sure you blade/sand and use something a little tackier than your film slip ( alcohol mixture/ dirt off/ elmers glue ) pick your method...everyone's got a favorite

Um... the neon is a Dodge, not a Chrylser, and it's one of the easiest cars to tint that there is

The neon may be a dodge...but over here...it is a Chrysler!! Do you find the backglass easy to do? if so, it must be me being a

Sorry ND, i didn't realize it was under a different badge there, perhaps it's a different body style as well, the ones we have here are gravy...very flat and easy

this one was a biatch...I am normally OK at shrinking but this sucker...well. it sucked!!
I tried the soapshrink as well and I was getting creases, the hp film seems to need a lot of heat to make it move?

95 -99 were the "gravy" style...2000 and up they got more quite curved...definatly not the hardest by any stretch...but not very flat IMO

the seals on those cars pop right out. you can pull the panel back at the top and they come right out using a hook tool.

I just did a new Neon and it was almost as easy as the old Neon , one piece b/g ez sides . Wierd thing is the rear rolldowns are manual and the fronts are electric , all said and done it took about 45 min. for whole car.

Doing an '05 now. I am totally fighting with the BG. I'm sure it is my fault, 'cause I am trying a new brand of film on this one. I have done these before... but this one is p1ss1ng me off. The BG is curved big time.
Here's a pic of one I did last summer...

Yeah right. Is it just me who has a totally bad day every now and then? It seems to me like every frickin' thing went wrong for me today... I kept dropping my clean towels onto the wet floor, dulling blades, but still made the customer happy with a totally clean job. Check the difference in years of experience before you label someone!

I'm was just messing with you E-OH. Not that this is being directed at you, but I take years experiance with a grain of salt. Ability and knowledge is what counts and it doesn't always come with years experiance with some people, but again not directing it at you just sharing my thoughts.

This makes me feel good ....... my 1st TINT was my 2000 neon, tinted it about 6 times.....i got a 05 stratus now, and its the same back window almost, i think it does have something to do with the paper not sticking to the matrix lines

I'd take a stratus 4 door backglass over a new neon any day. Stratus is a freakin cake walk, and the neon will sneak up on your and bite your arse on the top corners if you aren't paying attention.
Prep the lines and glue them and they aren't a problem.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
