Combining Safety Film & HO 30?

Custom Search

This is for a residential application. The Safety Film to help minimize potential bugular window breakage. The HO 30 for increasing energy efficiency.

1. Is it recommended in terms of being technically possible?

2. Are there any suggested alternative recommendations?

3. Does HO 30 work better with some Safety Films than others?

4. Would HO 30 & Drei be considered interchangeble in case the client wanted to upgrade TSER?

Thank you,

This is for a residential application.  The Safety Film to help minimize potential burglar window breakage.  The HO 30 for increasing energy efficiency.

1. Is it recommended in terms of being technically possible?

No, it's known as piggy-backing films... not recommended though it still gets done. No warranty on either layer.
2. Are there any suggested alternative recommendations?

Yes, plenty of film makers have solar safety films in the offerings. HO's a relative newcomer to the industry and has a limited safety film offering. Many other films can get you the performance, however, if you're dead set on the look of HO 30 or Drei, there are very few other films that will satisfy you with the same appearance. Many can give the performance, though... look into Vista's 6 mil solar safety film or LLumar's N1040 safety film in 4 or 8 mil. Solar gard and 3M have solar safety films as well....

3. Does HO 30 work better with some Safety Films than others?

HO 30 has some good performance numbers all by itself... Not sure the nature of the question? Work better piggy-backed...? No! Same as it ever was.... see answer to Q 1.

4. Would HO 30 & Drei be considered interchangeable in case the client wanted to upgrade TSER?

Sure... If Drei performs better... why not... still, the piggy back issue is as it stands in the answer to Q 1... not recommended.

I do not think this method is a great idea.

Does "piggy-backing" mean installing one film ontop of another?

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
