good luck with the R & R of the 3rd brake light.
No pics ? no tips
Why's that?
If I remember correctly, I thought you could step on a Big Mac and fit it behind this brake light without any problems.
I belive same as elantra, 2 nuts in the trunk and then about pry it out of its hole, then when reinstalling it cover it with a paper towel as to not scratch the tint and use your bone or a 6 inch black n white to push in the long studs that the nuts go on then your home free................
here
in the back of the side panel you can see some tabs that hold the side panel to the deck.
![]() here is the slot the tab from above fits ![]() and you need to take out a 14 mil bolt under the side rest of the back seat and the screws accross the trim. ![]() hope this helps some one, and its alot easier to use the sideswiper to get behind it, just not as much fun QUOTE (redneckj @ Jul 19 2005, 01:02 PM) good luck with the R & R of the 3rd brake light. [*]299692[/*] Yup, just another fukin rookie.
just did one. didn't remove anything and got it behind the light. no problem.
Much easier than tinting behind a civic 3rd brakelight, but still it's annoying Hyundai didn't just make it come out simply.
Anyone who hasn't gotten the bulldozer tools yet, get them right away, they're awesome for vehicles like this one...
i found a pretty useful technique to take the brakelight out w/out removing any panels...
after taking off the 2 screws from the underside of the light (sorry i have no pics) i pop the light loose, usually just pulling on it, or wedge a squeegee underneath it...but ofcourse the lightbulb tab is too long to let the light housing come out of the back panel. this is where skinny fingers come in handy - there are 2 holes underneath the panel that allow some access to the lightbulb, just large enough to fit a finger in each hole (hopefully). i turn the lightbulb tab loose and pull it out from the underside in the trunk, allowing the brakelight housing to pull freely from the panel. now for the comprimise in order for everything to fit back in, i cut the tab off of the bottom of the lightbulb. it is useless and gets in the way, and is an easy fix that takes no time compared to taking about the panel.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
