Full Version: splicing?????
I am doing a graphic that is 28x40.I am using 15" vinyl. How do I mate these together right?Help?I knew I forgot to ask that guy I bought this stuff from something.
there are several ways, you can put in marks on your panels that will overlap then match the marks, but the way I prefer is lay the graphic on a table butt the 2 sections together then lift the one that will be on top off the paper and slide the bottom sheet up then place the vinyl down on the vinyl on the bottom sheet. after you do this to all the overlap parts then premask the big sheet.
this will sound confusing but read it a couple of times and you will probably understand. you can email me if you have ???? tigertint1@yahoo.com
Wouldn't I have a doubled up layer of vinyl at the seam then?

Yes. It is called an overlap. If your plotter is not big enough for the job you have to make your job into "panels" and have a 0.5" to 0.25" overlap. If done properly, you won't see it. Any GOOD graphics program will do this automaticaly. If you have a cheap program, well that is why it was cheap. You cannot "butt seam" them together because 1) it looks like crap and 2) if you use CHEAP vinyl it will shrink and leave a big gap over time. Read your manual on how to do this in your program. The program is vinyl cad. It's not exactlly a cheap program.Old but not cheap.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
