Full Version: Flat glass warranties
why would a company not warranty a window in a building if it has been tinted... seems like the tint would be a plus.?
once you put film on any window the warranty is voided because film can break a window or cause sealfailure, but the real reason is so the window companies can get out of warranties in my oppinion. Yes there are some instances where the film will break glass or cause seal failure but most of the time it is from poor installation where someone has chipped a corner of the glass or has put a nail into the glass behind the frame when they were installing it. Or it could be seal failure due to cheaply made windows that were not sealed properly.
Granite there is occasions where the film was at fault but that is usually the person who sold and installed a film that wasnt made for dualpane glass cause it has too high of an absorbtion rate. Because businesses don't stay in business if they have to fix other people's mistakes.
(afterhours @ Aug 12 2005, 09:02 AM) why would a company not warranty a window in a building if it has been tinted? did you know they also won't warranty it if a blind is mounted too close to the window...or maybe a cubical wall is too close to the window. or maybe the person in that office hung a stained glass design infront of the window. anything that will create a temperature variance on the window is reason enough for the company to not back their product. easy way out for glass companies. i've dealt with it so many times it drives me nuts.
