got this one to do tomorrow. never done one of these. it has the t-tops where the back glass comes out.
Mdog
i havent ever tinted one of those year models, looks pretty easy hmmmmmmm.gif
we must have pics of this car and tintjob, looks like a nice car thumb.gif
thetintshop
if nobody's done one, i'll take some pics. it looks easy, but looks can be deceiving.
Mdog
i am curious to see if it has a seal at the top of the door panel or of they used that hairy crap on it. i could have swore i tinted a early 70`s model and it had that short hairey stuff instead of a rubber seal. might not be though.
TintDude
are you going to tint the sun roofs too?
Zrok
i did one similar to that a few weeks ago...well, the guy just wanted the back glass done......there's a VERY BRITTLE piece of trim that covers most of the back glass from the inside (easiest way to cut it out) the car i did had that piece broke, so i asked the guy to remove it before he brought it to me.....as i looked at the piece of trim the side panels have to be removed to get it out without breaking it....the back glass is easy as hell, its installed from inside the car, with butyl, so it's free and clear glass on the inside, no rubber, nothing thumb.gif the only obstacle is the trim piece......i'm not sure about the doors, as he only had me do the back glass....hope this helps ya. orngbiggrin.gif

this bg comes out. like is made to come out. it's designed to come out when you remove the sunroofs, so the air flows better. (this is what the guy says) he says it has clamps, like the t-tops. i don't know, i didn't have time to look at it.
Mdog
wow, never heard of that before.
thetintshop
me either. kind of curious to see it up close. the guy probably knows, he bought it new in 69.
Mdog
damn a 1 owner, find out how many miles it has on it, that would be interesting to see. thumb.gif
thetintshop
are you going to tint the sun roofs too?

sorry td, i just saw that. no, just two doors and bg.
Mdog
hell that should just be about 60 bucks, its all flatglass and it should be easy, right? sweat.gif its only 3 winders sweat.gif sound familiar Flaugh.gif
TintDude
Flaugh.gif ya i think the sunroofs would be the hardest ones to tint on that car
Zrok
tts, make sure you take pics of that thing, never heard of the 'removable' back glass dunno.gif sounds kewl though, if he's not a moron.
thetintshop
here's the damn car. this thing was awful. never had so much problems with such a small glass. hope i never see another one. and it was a 68, not a 69. that was my fault.
thetintshop
here's the latches that hold the bg in.
thetintshop
when you undo the latches, the glass falls inside the car and you pull it out through the door.
thetintshop
here's the b***h finished. it looked good, but i had to do the back twice, and that pissed me off. the sides were easy as hell.
FastBackJack
Why'd you have to do the B/W twice?
thetintshop
the bg would have been easy, but it had that damn chrome trim glued around it, so whenever it got wet, dirt from the 70's started coming out. the first time, it just had more dirt than i wanted, so i redid it. the second time looked good. a little dirt in one of the corners, but damn, IT AIN'T GONNA BE PERFECT!
FastBackJack
On glass like that I'll clean it like normal then take it outside and hit it with a hose. Cuts down on alot of s**t!!! thumb.gif
thetintshop
that's what i do. i did this one that way too, but it was just caked up in the bottom of it. the top and sides were actually really clean.
Exact-Oh
That's the same problems that I had with a vette from the early '70s. That one didn't have removable rear glass. Did the sucker twice 'cause of dirt.
GusTheTinter
I've only done one (can't remember the year of the car) but the cust requested the tint to be put on the outside, cause someone got a little crazy with the DA sander and scratched the glass and wanted to hide it with tint Flaugh.gif
thetintshop
sweat.gif this one had DA scrathces on the bg too.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
