Im about to tint front sides on an exterra, any hidden disasters? Can I match the manufacture tint with 20%? hmmmmmmm.gif
MobileTintInc
20% is a bit dark, easy job tho......
Thanks anyway grinning_and_saying_no.gif

Should be a close match although metallized films will tend to look a little different from factory, but haven't had too many complaints
MobileTintInc
Matches much better on jeeps than anything else, chevys are lighter too and brown in color. Unfortunate, even with metal-free colorstable from 3M, it'll leave a nonrflective result, but a few percent too dark.

I roll 'em down quite a bit as the one side exposes iteslf near the bottom. When I first did these, I didn't know that they "rolled out" and had a few issues. Just my 3 cents.

I should've listed that I had the door frames off, Dodge Rams do that too.

I need a match for a 03 X-terra, all I use is the stuff from sungaurd (concord films). AND this guy has those stupid things on the windows that stop the rain from getting in when the are cracked open a little (window skirts).

Anyone have any ideas other than take me off and put them back on?
ncinirator
Oh yeah, what is a match to the factory tint on a 03 X-terra, smoke bronze???anyone know?
Mdog
charcoal matches

thanx! Better question, what % film does the factory put on the windows?

If its like 30%, then that means I should place a 50% or 60% peice of film on the factory windows to match the 20% I would put on the fronts, yes?

Is that getting to complicated? dunno.gif
Mdog
the factory glasson the BACK reads around 17-22% give or take a couple %.

if you put 35% on the fronts that should bring it down to around 25% NET, if you put 30% on the fronts then it should be around 20% NET assuming that the front doors read 70% clear.
ncinirator
I see. smile22.gif

But what about the glass already tinted in the back, if you put lets say 60% or 70% on them are you then reducing the 20% that was placed on by the factory to 10% or 7%? icon_confused.gif
Mdog
right. to find out what percentage you will end up with all you have to do is mulltiply the percentage of the FILM x How dark the glass is.

so factory colored glass that is 20% x 60% window tint added = 12% technically. it could be 10 or 14 just depending on the film and how true the % is to what its supposed to be, sometimes film is off a couple % from box to box.

just multiplying it like that you can figure out what your gonna end up with pretty closely thumb.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
