Hello everyone, I'd like to know what's the best window film remover concentrate out there? I heard some pink remover does the job and also heard some other products are good too. But which one is the most used, easy to work and realiable at the job? I have a 670 sq/ft property to remove old 2-mil film and the only method I use is the soaking-process which does the job easily, but takes quite time since I have to wait between 45 min to 1 hour before the removing of this film. There is one product at ebay called: " WINDOW FILM TINT ( TINT OFF ) THE ULTIMATE TINT REMOVER " for $14.99 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7986268006&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AITI dont want a product that contains amonia because it stinks and the odor stays on the room for quite some time. Any web sites or URL links I can look at? Thanks in advance. -Christian

the only other thing I can think of is Feline Urine, its acidic enough to eat thru the film without making a stench. YOu can get it at any petsmart or large pet retailer,

The pink product you are talking about is probably Simple Pink.
If it is PS adhesive, save your liners from other installs.
The night before wet the windows with any solution you wish and cover them with the liner. By morning, everything should come off easy.
I did a museum with windows over 100 years old that had 2mil clear. I had to remove everything before installing new 2mil clear. Did not break one pane of glass and the removal simple.

If it is PS adhesive... soap and water softens it plenty for a razor blade to scrape it up and off... this includes safety film's PS adhesive. Steamers CANNOT be used on building glass UNLESS it is TEMPERED! CDF or like water activated chemical adhesives... break the glass, replace it and tint the newly installed glass... kidding... scrape the beegees out of it and have plenty of blades on hand. Phuck the ammonia...

I had considered using a steamer at one time for a job then I heard of the potential for breakage and we did it the old fashioned way - wet liners the day before and scraping the next a.m.

easiest thing for u to do is cut the 2 mil in strips on the glass and peel it off in sections that are about 10 to 12 inches wide. It will leave the adhesive behind but the film should come off in one piece. Then wet the window with yer application solution and use yer triumph blade to remove the glue. It is a little labor intensive but it is the fastest way to remove and ps adhesive comes off alot easier then wa or cdf or dry adhesive's.

LMAO but still i like the soaking method. By the way, has anyone tried "Ultra-Bond Concentrated" by FTI for removal? It works awesome after 1 hour soaking time. starting a 7200 sq. ft. job tomorrow. strip and retint. there's no way in hell we'll be using a steamer on 'em. we've done a few buildings like this one that had to be R&R'ed. all of these had film that would just flake off. total nightmare. we go through, spray them with ammonia/slip solution and cover them with clear liners. (we save large liners for this reason alone) after soaking a bit the film scrapes off nicely with no flaking going everywhere. if the film's not flaking we do the same thing after peeling the film off. liners and ammonia/slip solution sit and soak in allowing a quick scrape job. this technique only works well when doing large jobs like this. since it's just spraying and applying liners for soaking, anyone can help. it doesn't need to be a tinter. get a grunt to do it.

I am not going to use a steamer ever again, just my team work (3) and I for the 1100 sq/ft removal and installation of 8-mil film using the soaking method, however; this will take me 2 to 3 days since I'm taking my time. No hurry...

i prefer not to use chems on flat glass unless you are sure not to get it on anything. just soapy water, SHARP triumphs, and some elbow grease. you'll get the hang of it. the soak way works also, but i havent had to do that in years.
VO|TRON
Dec 2 2005, 12:35 PM
yea I dont use any chems either when removing film, just a 4inch scraper for the film and then the triumph for the glue.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
