The old impalas are not too hard. I used to dread seeing these things, untill I learned a shortcut. I will list step by step how to do them easy.
1. Coat the back glass with bounce dryer sheet film. wet the glass and the sheets, then coat that glass good. dont worry about putting to much on its not a problem if you do. 2. allow the glass to almost dry. 3. place window film on glass, cut excess off. I like to cut aproxamatley 1/4 inch from the edge of the metal fram around glass. (Helpful hint before you do step 3 if you like you can use 1/4 inch tape to mark your outline of the area around the boarder so that you dont have to use a light inside to see were to make your final cut.) 4. using a hard card anchor the middle of the film horazontally. 5. without using heat slowly hard card the film from the bottom of the horazontal anchor point down. as you get to the bottom edge on both sides you must stretch the film as you apply firm pressure on the film to get it down. you will be able to get the bottom down without using any heat at all. above all else do not use heat , once you shrink it your screwed it will take you forever to to the rest with heat. 6. heat shrink the top it takes maybe five minutes. I can do an impala back glass from start to finish in less than 20 minutes. i consider myself to be an average tinter. I hope this helps. I have looked for advise on this part ot tint dude only to find a lot of chat and no real advise. Mybe it will change.
Yea I remember those being a pain

I did this one back in 95 http://www.lemobile.com/ss.htm
I took some pics of how to remove the rear deck in one today. These cars are just a pain all over. Not one easy window.
Remove lower seat and you'll see two of these. They are T47 Torx, remove em and the seat lifts up and out. ![]() Remove the speaker grills, make sure to remove these bastard clips. You need em on the tabs to make sure the grill stays put when you reinstall it. ![]() Once those are out remove the side panels, they simply pull off. The deck just slides out then. ![]() ![]() An 11mil socket worked to remove these. ![]() all that so it looks like this... ![]()
they're not that hard, just a pain with the parts, everything is already broken before you even touch it

on these you can remove the C-pillar plastic, remove the speaker grills, 2 christmas tree plugs by pulling the seat just enough, and then the deck will lift out.
You don't have to pull the whole seat out. Save a good amount of time. I am averaging 1 every 6 months.....maybe. I hope they go away.
Just to add a note. The seat does not need to be removed. The package tray will come out.
