I am not sure yet what happened to this car, but ley me give you a little warning.

I just did one of these last night pulled the front two panels off. tinted the car like any other and put the panels back on. Then the trouble came.

When I put the car into gear to pull it out of the shop. The door locks automaticly lock when put into gear. The front two door locks started to studder on me. I removed both panels assuming I had put them back on wrong. Well the driver door worked fine, but the pasenger door kept doing it.

I checked and I checked but it was going on fine. My only thought at this point is that something inside the door got wet. Causing some sort of interference or something.

I wont know exactly what the problem is on this car. untill the customer get it back to the dealer to have a look.

But if it is that something inside the door got wet. Your only choice is to remover the windows to tint this car. As I said I removed the panels so If something got wet. It is actualy inside the door and you cant help but wet it.

This car does have smart key technology so maybe that is what got wet I dont know . I will keep you posted to what happens

By the way this is the same car as the IS 350 just less horse power

Sorry to hear that, I've tinted at about 15 of these cars so far with no problem. The door panels are kinda hard to take off, the clips are very strong!! I liked the old IS much better (to tint).
Let me know what the problem was.

Yeah Pierce, that sux! I haven't had any problems either. Maybe the car just had an issue before? Keep us posted eh?? beer.gif

did one of these yesterday. panels are cake to take off. screw behind the handle and screw hidden under the power window trim piece (which pops right up). then the panels just pop right off. heads up though....if the power is disconnected from the window switches then they have to be reset in order to work properly from the driver's controls. reset just like the new scions and avalons. thumb.gif
blade
you'll know if it needs to be reset because the light in the switch will be blinking. if it is...roll the window down from that switch...then roll it up and hold it up for 2 seconds.

You have reset the sunroof timing on the Camry's if you diconnect the neg bat terminal, it's always a good idea to keep up with the electronics of these newer vehicles.

Having a good upstanding relationship with your local new car dealerships is always a great help in those type of situations.

Heard that these cars have sensors on the panels, work for Lexus nono.gif . Had a guy take panels of and they always come back because of this problem. rest.gif
blade

I finally have something usefull to ad!

The locks are operated by a cable that has a slide catch you press into the panel. If its not in there tight it likes to pop out and the cable has nothing to hold it in place. Then when the locks are supposed to engage the cable moves and nothing happens.. The lock system tweaks out a little then. Just pop the panel and push the cable in tight into its little catch.

Just avoid taking off the panels..? But I did used to work at a Lexus dealer, and they warned on the LS430's to not use too much water b/c it would mess up the window control module in the door. Only saw it happen once with a new installer. So dont know how much water is too much.

Ok so maybe I spoke too soon..lol. i got one of these this morning. Talk about a coincidence. Yeah, taking the panels off is not too bad. the top gets stuck and its hard to get back on. Thats when the door lock mech. gets undone, when you are trying to get the top of the door back onto the frame. Seems like toyota got a little slack on the QC when those parts were made. I remember back (at the lexus dealer) in the day actually breaking a couple trying to get them off or back on they were so tight. I cant believe that they just come off so easily now. Hmmm...
cool dude
do you need to remove the door panels or is it pretty easy to tuck the film behind the door gaskets...thanks
cool dude
Tinted a 2007 lexus is 250 I ended up taking the 2 front door panels off.....

simple fix ............... If you did not remove any power connections and just pulled the panel and you have the door locking problem as in the first post.....simply check the alignment of the pivot rod directly behind the manual switch..... works all the time........ 5 0 was correct

Pain in the ass car.....just the 2 front roll-ups....the rear half of the car takes 30 minutes

I had to shape the 2 front roll-ups.....but I did not remove the panels.....fuggin poop.gif box..... tantrum.gif

Yeah i have only tinted one of these, the rest of the car was easy. But the fronts weren't much fun. I left the trims on too. I hate removing them. Especially on the pricey cars.

i just did one and when you take the panels off you need to take the felt strip off by undoing the four tabs that connect the felt strip to the door panel and then when your all done you put the felt strip in first and then just snap the panel back on to it, then you dont need to fight it when putting it back on
