IWFA tint-off in Las Vegas

Title says it all-who's going?? If y'all are so good, y'all should be there. Last year it seemed like half the field had no reason to be there. One guy tinted his window and left, didn't stick around to see the results....

i've got nothing to prove to anyone...my customers are pleased. that's all that matters to me.

same here, besides I don't have alot of spare time to be taking off of work

Actually I would love to go I think it would be fun. If they would have one closer to home I would.

Im happy with my work and so are my customers...........................but I think it would be fun to see how I compare (tint wise) to others in the biz.

if nothing else, get to see some other peoples methods of installing, this biz is all about being better then the guy down the street, so learn their tricks and use it agenst them.

Hell I'd go just for the fun of it. If I won, I won, if not, all well, it's suppose to be for the fun of everything and to be competitive at the same time. It has nothing to do with if you customers are happy or not, it's for fun and fun alone.

What fun would it be if pro teams never played eachother? Granted, that's a totally different situation, but all in all it's for the rush of competition and doesn't have to be viewed as a DMC.

Like Tiger said, I bet alot of us could pick up little tricks and whatnot from other installers, or atleast have a good laugh at the guy that was talking a big game but come to find he couldn't hang a piece of film properly to save his life

I can buy a 6' trophy at the sporting goods store and have it engraved however I want - who cares about a trphy

And on the other post I have learned more here in 4 months than I did tinting on my own. This is what the forum is for to pick up the little tricks and whatnots.

I just love how no one goes, but yet is consistent on bashing those who do but yet sit at home each time one rolls around and never competes.

funny I dont see any bashing here or on any of the previous tint off threads- I thought it asked for thoughts and we're all throwing our thoughts out there? your thoughts were welcome here and so should everybody elses whether you like them or not

and how many have you attended??? and won?? you must have a trophy case full of these to be worried about it so much

after see what i saw at the SEMA tint-off...i am wanting to go and compete more and more..i saw alot of shady tinting at that show..and i wish i would have competed

i don't see how this is a DMC.. it is like any other competition out there..you dont see race car drivers saying " I'm not going to race...because all this is is a DMC."

this is all about being competitive..some ppl have it...some ppl dont

I went last year and lost, so what? It was fun hanging out with tinters, talking tint, swapping tint stories ( my wife was about to lose her mind).

And yes, you might learn something, pick up a new technique, or make a new contact. You'll see some guys doing crazy stuff you've never seen, and, as I said before, guys who have no business being there at all.

But hey, if you have nothing to prove, fine, don't go. I believe I was asking who WAS going...............

Oh I agree on the competitive part, but I think whats being said is why, is it really worth it. I would rather spend my money and come to SEMA , meet a bunch of you guys and gals and hang out. Or if they really wanted to do this why not have a series of them like one per state and then have afinal somewhere, now that would be cool

i dont compete because i know i have no competition. there is no one out there better than me.

i might talk some crap but i've never claimed perfection or super-speed installs. and i'm not scared that i'm not as good as i think. i just don't care to compete.

On the 1st round of the tint-off I thought I was gonna My nerves were about shot
I made it to the next to the last round, six of us left.
The thing I did not like was the fact that you were competing against the guy doing the otherside of the car, and not all 5 other guys
Long story short, the guy I was competing against bet me by one point. I got a better score (and time) then the others that were competing on the other two cars
I'm 40 now and don't feel the need to put my nerves through that kinda torcher
I do think if someone hasn't done it, they should. It is a good experence to see what its all about

Is the prize realy 5 grand??

If someone flew me out I would go in a heartbeat. I would compete, don't know if I would win or not But I am certainly competitive! I sure would give you a run for your money

I had 4 or 5 workin' my shops in the past... preferred them to men... they're naturally methodical and meticulous and if they're a parent, they can be counted on to show up for work.

THE TINT OFF AT THE SEMA SHOW WAS ONLY FOR SOLAR GARD I DO BELEIVE AND THIS TINT OFF IS IWFA/WINDOW FILM MAG

Wish I could take the time off to go, it sounds interesting. Maybe next year?

sux if you have to preregister and $hit...i'll be in vegas for SEMA, if i see a bunch of cars and some window tint I want in!!
