Full Version: 01 mustang tinting
i want to tint my black 01 mustang...im in nj...i just wanted to ask the professionals here what kind of tint should i get...i really have no familiarity with any tinting lingo...i'm thinking 30% all around should be fine...is that fine? too light? too dark?...also is there like a certain brand name of tint that i should go after...i read something about huber optik but those looked super expensive just from their website...im in bergen county and was also wondering if any of you guys know a good shop in that area...wow i guess thats a lot of questions im asking...any help is greatly appreciated!! thank you.
that shade will look awesome on that car.
heres a shop from the registry
Name: Steven Dambrowski Email: steved@panix.com Phone: (888)295-3764 Years of Experience: 4 Shop Name and Location: D & S Wind nj dosen't allow tint on the fronts or visor but 30% would look classy on the rest of the stang we all use different brands the right installer is more important than brand names
30% is a nice shade, but keep it leagle
you dont want problems with cops or insurance companies. you can face a problem with liability issues if your car is not within state laws. and that can be big. ask the shop if they use, "metalized" tint. If you plan on keeping this car longer than 2 years Id deffinatly reccomend you go with that type of film.
Thanks a lot for the response guys!!
zolar: you mentioned a tinter from "the registry". since a person is a member of the registry, does that mean they are usually better than your average joe? also is there any way i can look through this registry? tigerstripe: i totally agree. i do not want any hassles with the cops. one of my friend's has i think 5% or something simialr all around on his pontiac grand prix...he sometimes gets hassled but since the car is leased he at least does not have to worry about inspection! midcoast: i definitely plan to keep this car a while. are metallized tint the best a person can get for his vehicle? and how much are they compared to just normal tint? btw, how much do u think the cost will be of tinting a stang coupe?
1 miiillliiioooon dollars!!!!!!!!!
prices are not allowed to be posted my friend. (TINT @ Dec 28 2005, 11:19 PM) 1 miiillliiioooon dollars!!!!!!!!! prices are not allowed to be posted my friend. [*]354852[/*] On a black Mustang, I would go with a black Film. The metal films just wouldn't do it. Try www.formulaone.com. You can locate a dealer in your area through this site. Formula One Pinnacle is a Ceramic based film actually made for cars, it is true black, excellent heat rejection, and no electronic interference (like radar detectors, GPS, and satellite radio.) It may be a little more expensive, but it carries a Nationwide Manufacturer's Lifetime Warranty. Ask the dealer if they participate in the no fault program. This means if you scratch it, or someone breaks a window. They will retint that window at nop charge. This is in addition to the lifetime warranty. It is the best way to protect your investment. Good Luck. Pinnacle is available in 50% / 35% / 15%. If you have a light interior, the 35% will be almost invisible through the back window. The 15% will make the front windows look tinted as well. NJ law allows anything behind the driver (nothing on the front two R/Us), but the cops may pull you over cause they can. Good Luck! I just think there's a huge misconception of film brands....brand means squat, because they all make marginal products somewhere in their lineup. It's a particular line or 2 from some manufacturers that stand out IMO. A metal layer in a film doesn't make it the Holy Grail.
oldtinter: please share as to what you think stands out so i can get it

If your worried about huper pricing forumla one is not for you either.
As far as what film to use on your car. Well that is your decision to make not our's. Your best bet is to drive around looking at different mustangs, and get an idea of what you like (pierce8468 @ Dec 30 2005, 01:37 PM) If your worried about huper pricing forumla one is not for you either. OT had the answer, too. Like many others on this site... he shys away from stating brand names... each has their preference and it would only lead to a pizzin match that would leave you dazed and confused. Tint is not an item one needs shop for on the internet... (TheeeGod @ Dec 29 2005, 11:16 PM) [*]355259[/*] Nope there isn't... Closest F1 shop would be Bear, DE (state line)...
Your right that you wont know what film it is on the vehicle you see.
But it will give you a better idea of how dark your looking for. Most tint shops carry pretty much the same levels of film darkness 35%, 20% and 5% are your most common choices. So when looking at film not just on satngs but all vehicles. Make your choice light medium or dark. Like metint said internet shopping for film will not realy work. You need to see it first hand to get an idea of what you want. I understand you work but on your way home from work, to work ,or going shopping look at the other cars on the road. [*]355399[/*] The point was..."Buy a metalized film and you'll be fine" type blanket statement is misleading, or simply false. There's some marginal hybrids out there, and some excellent non-metal films. For theegod....plenty shops out there have web sites loaded with pics, that would be a good place to start. I agree You definately want to go with the shop and or installers you are comfortable with. Huper does shrink i agree, but if you get a chance to work with the F1 Pinnacle you will not beleive it. It shrink like a standard film, adding no extra time to your installation, doubling your profit. Thanks again for the info on the sungard "no-fault"
