Many thanks to the shop owner from McCombs, MS for his tireless effort to get the law changed back to normal. It was a long process but for once the public prevails.

The govenor of Mississippi will be signing the bill to change the newly amended law back to its original form on Monday March 28th. This should bring back the lost business due to the 35% net scare throughout the state.

This forum could really be a force to be reckoned with in the arena of the law but……………………………………….. to much politics and no fun make a dull forum!! !!!! Congratulations!!!!!!
28% is the new law, imo is still not dark enough. If you can buy a vechile with darker tint, all vechiles should be able to have darker tint, not just suvs, trucks and vans.
The "tint" on vehicles is NOT TINT FOR THE LAST FREAKING TIME!!! It is privacy glass....if you dont know what your talking about then dont speak!!

[*]386232[/*] It does not matter what it is called. If the glass on the windows is not clear, then the glass is tinted. The "privacy glass" seems to do the same thing tint does. It stops heat, sun, and gives more privacy. On my f250 you can not tell the difference between the back windows which have "privacy glass" or the front windows which have "tint" on them. Unless you put them down, then you can see the front have a little space of clear at the top. The "privacy glass" seems to do the same thing tint does. It stops heat, sun, and gives more privacy. yes it will give privacy and yes it will shade the sun, but however. It DOES NOT offer the same protection as window film. Factory darkened glass absorbs heat this you are right on. What the statement misleads you to beleive. Is that it stops heat from entering your vehicle. While yes it does do that for a limited time. maybe an hr or so. It will actualy make your car hotter ofter some time in the sun. Because all it does is absorbs the heat. Like a sponge glass can only absorb so much heat. Before it has to begin to release it somehwere. It is not going to swend it back out to the intial source. Because unlike window film it does not reflect heat . It will ulitmatley push the heat into the cab of the vehicle. Also because it is dark in color it attracts more heat then clear glass. After market window film on the other hand absorbs and reflects heat. Allowing it to make the car cooler and cut down on gas money. By allowing your ac unit to work less often. Not trying to correct you to make you look foolish. This is just a common misconception amongst window film consumers. Only informing you of the difference of the darkened glass, and the tinted glass( yes if it is not clear it is tinted I agree with you on that. Just a term we use for aftermarket film ) So that next time you have your vehicle tinted you can be knowlegeble on the facts of factory glass and after market film, and posibble save some money on gas in the long run
I always knew that it was not film on the windows but I thought it did the same thing. I am not a pro at tinting or anything
I am happy it is down to 28%, but if I am reading this right people with trucks, vans or suvs can have darker behind the driver. If they can, cars should be able to imo (S and S @ Mar 27 2006, 11:11 AM) [*]386232[/*] The "tint" on vehicles is NOT TINT FOR THE LAST FREAKING TIME!!! By whatever method, be it dying the glass, allpying polyester, etc. (S and S @ Mar 27 2006, 08:11 AM) [*]386232[/*] The "tint" on vehicles is NOT TINT FOR THE LAST FREAKING TIME!!! Does anyone know where I can get an inspection sticker for my camaro? I got my windows tinted to 20% back in 2004 and the tint shop put a sticker on my windshield that says DHP/MHP Approved LLUMAR VLT+35% VLR -25%. And I was told when it was put on that as long as I had that sticker on my windshield that it would be legal. However when I tried to get an inspection sticker to day I was told that a sticker had to be on every tinted window. Whats up with that?? Thanks for any replies.

It was a long process but for once the public prevails. In regards to that initial statement, im not the owner of that shop but i worked there for 3 years and it was a tireless effort for Victor and all of us here in McComb. In my opinion the tint law still isn't 100% satisfactory there are still some glitches as far as the meter. I dont know if ya'll have the same problem but we argued to have the law lowered to 28% so we could apply a 35% film and the meter would read 28%. Although it was changed some inspection sticker stations are too stubborn to read the meter instructions that there is a 2-3 percent tolerance for every read so sometimes the 35% film would read 26% or 27% and they would not be allowed to get an inspection. The meter is so inaccurate you could meter one spot on the glass and get 25% and move it half and inch over and re-meter it and get 29%. I dont work at Victors any more, but what i do just to be safe i apply a 38% film and im done with it no worries.
tiny little town (McComb). Goes to prove anyone anywhere can make a difference if they want to bad enough.
Kyle for Free State of Jones---you will need a medical exemption to get a inspection sticker or remove your tint.
Matthew from McComb--glad to learn the law will be changing, wasn't aware of that; thnx for the info Be safe
sorry i didnt mean to come across that the law was changing again i think it'll be staying at 28% i was just suggesting in my opinion that it wasnt yet 100% satisfactory and stated some wishes of more improvments
OK, I'm not sure i understand this tint law... You have to have a sticker in between the tint and the glass? So , Am i suppose to put my tint on at a inspection station? I mean they cant check it until i put the tint on, correct? After i put it on , how they gonna get the sticker between ? Or is this law set up to where shops get more business, even though I am as good if not better than some....I tinted my windows this past weekend.. I bought 35% tint.. I'm not trying to do anything but make my AC work a little better...
So is this forum dead now ?

He was transfered to MS and called me a month or so ago and said that his car would not pass inspection because the tinting metered 26.9%, and the law was 28%.
I am getting different information on windshield strips. The law says AS1 line and not on top of factory tint, state troopers and inspection stations are useing the dollar bill length test. Any one else run into this?
