Hello Everyone,

Need some suggestions. I got a job to do for a police department. The job is they want vinyl decals of the department logo. The problem is they only have a uniform patch to go off. Now I figure I can scan it in. But of course I can't just cut off that because of all the jagged edges the scanner picks up. Any ideas how to clean it up......or convert it.

Is my only solution to import it into Illistator and repaint it? Please tell me there is an easier way.

Crap in-crap out-you need some artwork! If they had patches made----they have artwork!!!

well no. The patch was designed about 45 years ago. since then one company has made all the patches. And that company isnt parting with it.

that company should give it up to the dept. then...
Sharek
Trust me, I tried the company feels the original artwork is thier property. Botoom line is they feel that with the artwork the department can go anywhere else. So it makes sense to me that they won't give it up. I take the same approach with some of my designs....

So I guess I am repainting then.

make sure it's not copywrited

Sounds like thats the only option-redraw it. dunno.gif is it detailed?

I'd tell them to kiss my..well, either way I'd not do that job.

Nah the patch is fairly simple design. The only reason I was looking for an easy out is a know alot of the guys and was giving a good deal. At the same time wasn't looking to devote a ton of hours in artwork design.
exotic window tint
yeah..I hear yah.

That artwork is NOT the designers property. They were paid by the POLICE dept. to design it for them, and it is the POLICE Dept's property, unless of course it is a general emblem that the company sells to other facilities and is copywrighted by the design firm.

I deal with that exact same situation all the time, i'd fight it if I were you.

If you have corel and are familair with it. I beleive you can just convert the scan into vector art

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
