i have had mine for about 3 weeks now and only about 1 out of 3 patterns for tint are useable. am i doing something wrong?? the top edges arent matching up and some are the completely wrong shape. i thought this thing would save me time but it is costing me time money and tint.
tigerstripe
what company are you using?
f4imatt
Computercut-bekhaert

It is you I use compu cut and it works great.

It is a little hard to get use to, and thier manual is not much help. I can try to walk you thru it though. If you could post a pic of a cut pattern. that would help alot because then I could see what is going wrong.

Did you buy thier plotter?
If so what is your cut speed set at? what is your offest set at?
Is your plotter on a stand or on a table?
Is it dyed film your using?
f4imatt
my plotter is on their stand, using sunguard shadow (dyed), speed 10, offset .8 mm, and yes I bought it. I will try to get you a pic today. Thanks for the help mang!!!!!

Ok is it the dgi plotter 40"?

dyed film will cause more static issue then hybrid, but lets not assume that is the problem just yet.

Dont worry I went through all the agg when I first set up my plotter. It can be a real pain in the ass<but ill help you as much as i can beer.gif
TINTDESIGNZ
I dont use their setup- but you should contact them-you may have a setting wrong in your plotter/software! If it were FilmDesignz, i could walk you thru it! Get it set right-cause you shouldnt be wasting film!!!! We had an electrical storm last year and it thru my plotter off-but my tech had it fixed in minutes! thumb.gif

If he bought it all from them it should be set properley, but then again why not make sure.

Open up compu cut then top right side click on settings, then click on plotter. the only thing that could be off is the pltter width make sureit is set up for the right width plotter.

HMM when you cut is it cutting all the way through the film and liner or just the film?
f4imatt
just the tint. It is also set for 40 inch. Thanks again guys!!!!!!!!!!!
pierce8468

Pierce-my program has a scale setting -that was affected by the power surge.Seems to have reset to a factory default. dunno.gif it was only off a couple of percentage points but it made everything to small.
pierce8468
Thats allways good to know! Now if I ever have that problem I will know to check into that beer.gif
f4imatt
Yes it is a dgi plotter
f4imatt
I just got done using it on an 05 dodge ram and it worked great. It just seems like on some cars the patterns are skewed a bit. I do noticesome shifting of the tint in the center while it is cutting in the middle but i cant see how to eliminate this.
TINTDESIGNZ
Does your film seem to have a lot of static? my plotter has 3 wheels-to keep the center straight .

so does the dgi but the center wheel is completley useless sweat.gif

I am thinking the same thing about static.

If your film has to much static in it. That will cause the film to track improperly. What will happen is the plotter will begin its cut in one spot. By the time it gets back around to finish the cut. That should be at the same spot it started cutting. The static held the film to the plotter just so slightly to shift the film a little. Your end result will be an even start and stop point.

If this is your problem you can call beakert and they have this copper tinsel like thing. That you can hang on the back of your plotter to remove the static.

By the way a dyed film is more prone to static then a full metal or hybrid film
f4imatt
ya this film is pretty static-ee. is there anything else i may be doing?? oh yea you guys and this site kicks @ss! inot.gif
pierce8468
Hard to say with out bieng there to see whats going on, But I would bet The static is your problem. Run your arm near the tint and see if your hair stands up. If it does you have a static problem for sure
f4imatt
ya im sure that is it. sometimes you can even hear it crackling it is so bad. i will call bekhaert monday and see what they say. Thanks again guys!! thumb.gif
pierce8468
Idf it is crackling then it is definatley static problems. Just call em up and ask for the tinsel like stuff. I do not remeber what it is callled, but just tell them you need the copper stuff for static control

My stand is bogus and I just moved the dgi –cc on to a light table, we have only been cutting vinyl and sun visors. What are the disadvantages of a glass light table? Static? I have a friend wanting to sell his nearly new dgi 40 inch and cc software and I have thought of buying it but don’t know what is worth “used”. Any suggestions? dunno.gif

The stand is better in one way because it helps with static, but on the other hand you dont need to babysit the film if it is on a table. Because the film can fold over itself on a stand.

as far as the software purchase goes not sure it cc will allow that. You will have to check with them first.

The dgi plotter I have seen brand new $1500. I Know cc sels them for alot more then that though. If your going to buy a new plotter I would reccomend a anagraph works much better then a dgi
TINTDESIGNZ
Mines an Anagraph Elite 40. with a stainless tray to eliminate static.
pierce8468
Thats a good plotter tdz

Although the tray may reduce the static. It certainley wont eliminate it. For that you will need copper to ground out the static

I have a friend that needs to sell his so I contacted SG and as long as you have the software and pay the fees you are cool. He has a 40 inch dgi with SG’s fancy 500. holder system. I think I have it sold today for 3,700. I really thought they were worth more! When my dgi wears out I probably will take your advice and change brands. Thanks!!!!! beer.gif
f4imatt
i contacted them today about a static strip, havent heard back yet though.
