i'm looking to get my tint redone soon, whatever i have on it now is pretty lousy. I was thinking of going with V Kool but it's sooooo expensive. I really care about the appearance of the tint. i want something quite light and that looks the same as V Kool (not really that black, more of a charcol/and at some angles very slightly reflective). Can anybody recommend what tint i should look into? thanks

There are several other films that are similar to V-Kool. It is the silver (AG) in the film and the way that the atoms are stacked that give it good solar energy rejection while still being very light and low-reflective. All films in the AG family like V-Kool are expensive, there is no getting around price if you want that type of film.

If you want something cheaper then you will have to choose a non-AG film.

More effective? Well almost all films, including V-Kool will reject over 99% of the UV rays so V-Kool is no more effective in that catagory. There are also many films that will reject 55% of the Total Solar Energy so V-Kool is not the most effective. However, there are only several of 60-70% VLT films, and V-Kool is one of them, that can reject that much Solar Energy and be nearly clear; and out of this group there are only 2 AG films (maybe 3?) that can be applied to cars because they have the right adheasive.

A film is worth the money if it is installed properly, meets your expectations, and you are happy with the end result. If you want a light film that rejects a lot of solar energy and you can find a great shop to install it, then V-Kool is a great choice.

sorry to keep bombarding you guys with questions, but what are the other 60-70% VLT films out there?

These are the 60-70% VLT AG Films:

Vista VS-60 (Flat Glass Only)
Vista VS-70 (Flat Glass Only)

Huper Optik SECH (60% VLT)

V-kool 70

Bekeart Hilite 70 (Possible Flat Glass Only?)

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
