Full Version: ATTN: Shop Owners
O.K., Heres my rant... I subcontract at three area shops. One has continued to be late with paying. Even though they signed a contract, they allways seem to miss the deadline. I've let this pass too much lately. I even started charging them the 10% for late payment (that is in the contract). I keep very close taps on what the customers are being charged and what revenue I generate the shops I sub at. (Mainly because I will be opening my own shop soon) I made him 3200.00 last week and 2600.00 this week. (I worked about 20 hours each week) I get about 18% (it just works out that way) I get paid every friday for the week worked. I let last week slip because of a family emergency, and told him that I must be paid this week. The mother f****er took of without paying us. When I questioned the other tinter, he said he hadn't paid him for weeks as well. I went up to the office and ask the moron up there, she said that he wouldn't be back for a few days because he JUST BOUGHT A BOAT and was taking it out. By the time I calmed down and was leaving, I noticed the other tinter truck was leaving with every scrap of film in the place... Crap this is going to ugly, thank god for the other shops. SHOP OWNERS... pay the people that put food on your table, we eat to. TD
grab everything else that aint tied down.

QUOTE (TINT @ Jun 9 2006, 09:36 PM) [*]404493[/*] foacken a$$holes, i would have more too if ididnt pay my employees, or anyone else i hire to work Me too! He's probably got the money, he's just too concerned with his self and his new status symbol (boat) to do business properly. I say if you owe someone, then pay them. Integrity is hard to come by now-a-days. Refuse to do any more work for them unless they pay up front??? Let them depend on your integrity to do the job after you've been paid and see how that goes....
After 20 years and you are still sub-contracting to idiots like this?
I think you need to take a good look at yourself and re-evaluate your job life. Devil
wow! ....amazing. that sucks. he'll pay ya. seems like your being cool about it
and when he calls ya beggin
If he doesn't pay you in a resonable amount of time, p.m. me with the details and you will have your monry real soon. I love that kind of work. and o yeah, no charge.
That's why I had to sue the last guy I worked for.
Just decided he didn't want to pay. It was worth the 1 year it took and about 2 dozen trips to the court house 45 miles away. All over $330 originally. I started helping this guy as a favor. Now i'll just enjoy putting him out of business. After 20 years... Your right, you think I would learn. I wish I could be a fly on the wall when He comes back all tan and s#!t, and has no film. Oh well... he'll make some film rep happy. As for me I'm done with him. I was a manager for Macys for 8 years, they treated there employees like crap. That why I quit and went back to tinting. Im going to make something positive out of this.... He can keep his money.
oh hell no! don't let him get up on you. you better go and get what is rightfully yours. your a daisy if ya do!

o now that is just b.s. I'm not trying yo antaginize him by any means, maybe a little encouragemant to do right for himself . I've been in that situation before.Nothing would have made me feel like less of a man than to let some son-of- b----- get away with taking my money that I rightfully earned. whats fair is fair. grow a pair and handle the situation.don't give me this crap about if he pays he pays, you make him pay, legally or not, then move on and put him out of buisness.most of all, teach him a valuable lesson so he wont do it again, to you or anyone else.
man, can't believe this thread stopped here.Figured I would have at least Pixzzd 2or 3 people off!
Update; I got paid and was told that I could have more work because they fired the other tinter. I guess he return the film. Exchanged it for a paycheck. I went in, received a check, cashed it at their bank and then called them and told them I would not be returning. 1PEECBARETTA you didnt p1ss me off. Thanks everyone. See ya next rant.
I'm glad it all worked out for you.I just don't want to see my fellow tintdudes getting hosed. If the guy needed money for his childs operation that is one thing, but not a friggin' boat. good for you!1peecout
Got paid!!

Devil kind of what I thinking Devdude 20 years into the business -should have known better already Yeah who needs to sub-contract to scumbags like that for 18%.... advertise your services and get your own customers. Then u get 100%, and better still, u put tossers like him out of business. While he's out driving his boat, you're tinting his customer's cars!
18% give me details................... I have to pay 35%
I wouldn't look at a car for anything under 35%
I do about 20-25 cars per week on subcontract for a local tinting shop, and I charge them approximately 35% of what they charge the customer, so that seems about right. However if I was getting any less work off them, I would seriously want more than that. They also supply all the film and tools... all I have to do is turn up every morning. They're also great people to deal with, they have never tried to rip me off and are totally flexible if I have other stuff to do. It's a pretty sweet deal

Do like I did kick the living crap out of him and still his shop from him. It worked for me and my life is a million times better for it. My hand hurt for about 3 days and made tinting a little slower. It was worth watching his eyes roll in the back of his head with the Tyson punch to the jaw. It was a 2 hit combo me hitting him and him hitting the ground.

A professional never handles himself that way. Turn him into the IRS, open a shop down the street, take him to court, turn them into the employment dept., hold film or tools hostige. But never resort to violence. I think your full of sh!t because in this world you'd be typing this from jail. In my case, people in town know what I can do to them, so they know not to mess with me. What they dont know, is that Im afraid of killing someone, so I would never resort to violence. Reminds me of the time my mother had renters and refused to pay Novembers/Decembers rent due to over spending for christmas presents. I went over and took the front and back door off the house. . at about 33 degrees outside. long Story short, mom got paid and they had a hard candy Christmas
...bottom line. if you owe me you will pay for services rendered!!
Really rattle their cage !
Give it to a Collection agency after 90 days ! Of course that is only if you do not wish to do business with them anymore.
I WAS IN A SITUATION LIKE THAT ,THE SHOP WAS REALLY BUSY AND I WAS THE REASON FOR IT,TINTED FOR HIM FOR ALMOST 2YEARS AND NO RAISE, SO I LEFT AND OPENED UP A SHOP A COUPLE BLOCK AWAY, GUESS WHERE ALL HIS COSTOMERS COME TOO NOW,AINT NUTTIN BETTER THAN WORING FOR YOURSELF
With the number of "do you guys tint windows" requests we get I would gladly pay someone 30% to sub, if anyone's near fremont OH let me know
after 28 years, 6 states, nearly 100 "tintshops", 20-something film reps, 20,000+autos/homes/offices, 32 kegs of jack daniels (mostly one shot at a time), 14 million quadzillion olfa snaps (LMAO), 1,400 lbs of yellow turbo, 3 truckloads of baby shampoo, 35 or so spray tanks, 350 ungers, 265 slammers, 172 kilos of blanks, enough stainless steel from belgium to build a shiny mansion, 142 heatguns (23 of 'em big red milwaukees), 56 extension chords, 3,435,856 razor blades, enough triumphs to reach the fricken moon, several ladders, computers, etc, etc, etc...
...and i can say without any hesitation or regret: the vast majority of tint shop owners are two-bit crooks posing as half-azz tinters. same goes for car dealerships...i've worked for and done work for a few dozen. two, count 'em: 2 have been honest both with customers and vendors. you can flush the rest of 'em... in my humble albiet bodacious opinion. and so here we are...to slave for these people, or to slave for ourselves. both have their pro's and con's (pun(s) intended), but one thing is for sure: i get paid to do my hobby! tint on dude!
