Full Version: Matching factory tint

RICHat22
I am interested in coming up with a list of tints that match factory tint of various vehicles. After all these years I still have trouble matching films by eye at times. But matching factory coatings should be pretty easy.

Maybe I can throw it all in a spreadsheet when we get some. Im not interested in what you've used on what vehicles unless it was an exceptional close match. I'm not trying to endorse any brands or say who's better. Just colors...

Any starters?

what kinds of vehicles are we matching these to? I know ford and chevy's are good with CS. ATR has a little much sheen to it if I remember. been a while. been doing dyed or CS

I only use Sungard Slate film for auto and it matches pretty well. It is a bit less black, but it works. I have used the enurance film in the past and it matches very well to the reflectivity of the old premium glass on the ford products

only found a few that the slate doesn't work well enough for

I just tell them that they won't get an exact match no matter what as the factory is dyed glass
RICHat22
I hated the old premium reflective glass. unless it was a bronco II and I needed to cover a slight error at the top of the big glass in the back side beer.gif

bat.gif finger.gif freakin manufactures seem to just want to p1ss us off don't they

what about the stinking lexus with the gold looking glass? I am lucky that I don't have to see too many of that sort, but one of these days I probably will run across one

I find that the global QDP matches most truck/suv factory glass pretty well. The color is spot on from the inside out.

I know the 3M CS 50% on my dad's 04 F150 looks great from outside, but from inside is off a bit.

Yeah the atr 20 is close.

Isnt that hp 20% a little chrome looking or was that Johnson 20% hmmmmmmm.gif What ever I like the Global QDP for a good match inside and out but I use Global HP a maybe get one complaint out of every 30-35 people. beer.gif
VIP tint + glass
llumar does make an atr green.

we use atr 15 to match factory. 20 is closer but a lot lighter from the outside. we ask which one you want better, match inside or out?

cs 20 imo is good but the color is way off from the inside
Dr.Window
IMO for European Editions of Hondas for exmaple, C35 works perfect aswell for other few cars here in Portugal!

you're all busted for putting that shade on front windows. but if you want my opinion i say suntek carbon 18 on the chevy or newer fords. exact inside and out no bull. the only problem is the new foreign models are different-every one of 'em. just get as close as you can and explain the rest in such a way that the customer will accept it, if you can.
darkdan
Just do what I do.....tell them you don't match factory tint.

But I have a film that matches the color rather well, but it's a [insert legal VLT here] film.

I've been told by others that OTI's 22% is money on the new Chevy SUV's and trucks. I have samples in the mail so I can't comment my personal input. Maybe Willie or Tim can comment thumb.gif

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
