Full Version: Installing MAC film
Hey we just got the MAC film I did a installation on my office window and the glue is way differnt then the SRS or RS films by madico. Whats the best method to put this on without swearing at everything that moves???? LOL. Also with this I was taught by a old tinter that was a moron and didnt change with the times. Is there a better sollution for tinting then Joy dish soap and water?????? And if u got some info for me thanks in advance Eddie in NY
in what way is the adhesive different? installation?
have you ttried the baby shampoo? (j&j?)
RS and SRS come in both PS and dry adhesive. Could the film you are talking about have a DPS adhesive Detach Pressure Sensitive?

Try calling your distributor, they should have a recommended installation method including what application solution to use.
What is MAC film anyway?
(Protint @ Aug 3 2006, 01:43 PM) [*]419273[/*] What is MAC film anyway? It is their ceramic product. Aliveandawake has installed it, he'll know what the adhesive is.
Yea, the Madico Advanced ceramic.
It is slightly thinner than the regular Madico and has PS adhesive. Its the same to install as other PS adhesive films. You just want to make sure the window is really wet before installing the film, especially with hotter windows. I use J&J, never tried joy, but you could try adding a bit more soap. It just takes a couple of days installing it and you'll get used to it
AH MAC = Madico
If it like anyother ceramic film I have used then squeegeing is the most important thing about installing those films. I think J&J would be a much better choice for a slip solution than Joy. Remember Squeegee with alot of pressure but more importantly squeegee slow to move out MAX amount of water. If you squeegee to fast the blade of your squeegee with actually hydroplane over the water and not be as effective. Sorry about the MAC confusion
it seems to be the same thickness as most regular films. It is single ply rather then 2 ply like Huper. It has a PS adhesive like Huper though but it being thinner makes the install more difficult because you have to be gentle not to crease it and when back rolling it has a tendency to blow out to one side and make the install a pain in the a55. Like Alive said use lots of water and it would be better to wet both the film and the glass and not just the glass. If there is not enought water on the window then you will get little airpockets like im sure you know about or most people already know.
o boy when reverse rolling, if not careful you can damage that whole piece!
its just another huper, or any other ceramic film company out there or whatever, just trying to staty on top of the game (VO|TRON @ Aug 3 2006, 08:15 PM) [*]419443[/*] it seems to be the same thickness as most regular films. A 72"x 72"+ piece can be a royal pain. (Protint @ Aug 3 2006, 01:37 PM) [*]419271[/*] RS and SRS come in both PS and dry adhesive. They do? We only get dry. Release for the big MAC is 16/8/2006 (Aug) for us. The big wigs are coming downunder. with srs and rs I have only seen dry. madicos film being so thing I would think a ps adhesive would suck.

H.O. 50 and 60 thin? not the film that i've installed. I'm use to 3M which is thin compared to H.O.

Sorry to sound stupid but i don't do much flat, what is a "dry" adhesive?
(Soultinter @ Aug 14 2006, 03:37 PM) [*]422769[/*] Sorry to sound stupid but i don't do much flat, what is a "dry" adhesive? The adhesive is not "sticky" like PS. It is activated by water and creates a molecular bond to the glass rather than a physical bond. (vclimber @ Aug 14 2006, 06:47 PM) [*]422773[/*] The adhesive is not "sticky" like PS. Yea its a bear to get off of the window when doing a removal. Dont need to go to the gym those days.
Well we had the release last night and the film we are told is suitable for auto and flat so that will be great to cut down on inventory.
The adhesive for now is only in PS and not C with no 72" yet. Looks impressive...suppose to be like dual reflective with low mirror back and superb clarity. Does not interfere with GPS, TV, phone in rear screens. Upsell it is the word. How are they going to produce 72" with a machine that can only do 60"?
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
