It's official....

For at least me, a part-timer first year having my own flatglass business, business has officially came to a screaching hault. No calls in the past week and a half. Its been nothing but rain and colder weather here in the midwest states. I guess that is what is to be expected in this region. The positives of being in this area is having less competition unlike in the southern and western regions where you have a tint company every few miles....lol Dont worry, Im not going to ask "What do you all do during the slow months" question. lol Its been done on here many times. Maybe AOT can post some more celeb pictures so I can do some extra photoshopping during this slow time..... I hope business is well for all the rest of you guys out there.

Give it about 2 weeks then the sun will be real low on the horizon and you will get a totally different type of customer complaining about glare and heat on South facing windows. It happens every year.

Here lately, I have been calling my own phone, just to make sure it's still working!!!!! The phone hasn't been this quiet since the Towers came down.

Business here in Tampa is still pretty good........Incoming calls seemed to have dropped down a lil' bit though.

I die down a lot when the kids go back to school.

The kids are in school so they have no money for me to tint their cars.

The parents just bought school clothes for the kids and have no money for me to tint their house.

Then the holidays hit.

i dont have 1 job on the schedule for next week

Something that has been helping me is putting out the 24x32 road signs. There cheap and effective, i get more calls from my road signs than i do my yellow pages. Some places its legal some places its not, but if it is legal in your area, it really does work and i would give it shot if you need the business.

Good idea...might get a little expensive if anyone takes them down or steals them...

most of my business is referal , contractor , the typical for tinting and we are _________________ !
i do some electrical work, install church pews and whatever else comes up till we get busy .

I have a lady here locally that takes care of putting them out and picking them up. Its really not all that expensive if you get the signs for the right proceed, plus the lady that puts them out doesnt charge much at all to put them out. Its a great way to get cheap advertising.

We have slowed down bigtime in both cars and flat glass. One of my flat glass competitors works out of his house and he has been bidding jobs around 2.50 per square foot. There is no way I can compete with those prices and I've lost about 20 grand in jobs in the last two months.

Wow... I work out of my house and there is no way I could or even would go that low...

I have to admit I have gone that low a couple times, just to get the job. Its either that or get the "Well let me think about it and I will give you a call" speach. Mind you, these were small jobs (150sf or less).
